Marv Cermak confirmed yesterday what I posted 4 weeks ago that Parisi's Steakhouse closed Nov. 1st. This is not a "rehab" they have thrown in the towel and are not re-opening. Another failure-5th eatery Downtown to close this year without a mention in the horrible People's Gazetto. So much for the duty of the press to report on local news.

Here's the latest...2 years ago Metrograft Ray announced that a "upscale mens clothier" was moving from Saratoga to Downtown Schenectady. Nothing is coming. As usual the plan has gone belly up without a peep from Ray. At what point are the people in Rotterdam going to wake up that the so called improvements have come by hurting your tax base?

We did wake up. The issue is that no one is listening.

6.   Stockade View Apartments Façade Project (10 Mill Lane):  Resolution 550-08 - Adopt the General Project Plan

The project involves purchasing and renovating the 64-unit apartment building at 10 Mill Lane and 128-134 State Street. Interior improvements include painting, replacing kitchen appliances, adding new HVAC units, entrance lobby improvements, electrical upgrades and improving security systems within the building. The facade will be completely reconstructed.  The building currently is one of the largest on lower State Street and is very much in need of upgrading.  Metroplex participation involves a $350,000 façade grant. Ms. Jordan moved Resolution 550-08; seconded by Mr. Lewis. Discussion followed regarding the name of the project and other potential projects in the vicinity. Resolution 550-08 was unanimously approved.

What does refurbishing of residential apartments have to do with job creation (other than the temporary construction work)?  Who owns this building?  Which favored contractor is being contracted to perform the renovations?

Who will reside in these apartments when the have been transformed from "rags to riches" using taxpayer (public) revenues?

And, the resolution received unanimous approval?  In my opinion, the Metroplex has become nothing more than a cash grab for those who are "connected" to the rich and powerful.  Government of the people, but NOT for the people... (rather only for some people).  The rest of us live by the fruits of our own labors, not those of others.

Does this suggest that the Schenectady Metroplex is using public revenues to support the establishment of municipal housing?  I ask again, how does this expenditure of tax revenues result in job creation?  From your statement, it seems that the "business development" efforts may be, in fact, support for social programs.

As in my earlier post, I remember that it use to be section 8. I believe that it has changed hands, so I don't know if it still is. However, I have always questioned the refurbishing of residential apartments, (whether municipal housing or not) and what it has to do with job creation. It does appear that this is benefiting only contractors. Just call the number and ask if they accept section 8.

The taxpayers had a chance to have this Metroplex squashed with Tedisco. He blew it! And yet he makes a video against the so called 'iTax'. Big deal!!! So there is more than enough blame to go around. Just look at this state government, at all levels. They won't cut ANYTHING!!! And yet we, the taxpayers, are told that we have to cut back and live within our budgets. They have got to be kidding!!! Vote'm ALL out!!!! IMHO

This government is so big and so far out of control the only way to fix it now is for the citizens of this country to rise up and physically remove them from office and elect people who will follow the wishes of the people and place term limits on every office at all levels.
