Yeah, don't know how much I have to say, but it almost seemed as though my question as far as financing of the new water tower was pushed aside.  I think I just have to wait for the right time to ask abou tit, or take it to the proper authorities.  For anyone who is wondering, I brought up the question that as far as things go in the county, the residents of Rotterdam Junction, being part of the town of Rotterdam, are also part of the county of Schenectady.  I, therefore, asked if it would be feasible for the Schenectady Metroplex to cover the infrastructure improvement of the water tower.  It seems as though the board (Supervisor Steve Tommasone was the only one to talk when I asked) was trying, first, to find out what they were going to be spending before worrying where the money would be coming from.

I realize you were there to talk about the proposed sewers and the vote for Masullo, but were you as surprised as I was when they said about the continuous cost of repainting the water towers?

Yeah, I was pretty stunned...that was a lot of money.  I also agree that he sidestepped your question on financing but I wasn't surprised.

I thought the H2O tank pitch was reasonable enough...I've been to most all the meetings out there on it but I hold my tongue...they have plenty of well-informed people kicking the tires and despite whatever the cost is going to wind up at, I think they all realize they NEED it and I think they WANT it.  I hope they get it but it's already another one of those "Spring" promises and they've already missed several other promises on this topic.

I was glad to see the Friends Of the Aquifer going preemptive on the prospect of Mr. Marotta gaining a special use permit too.

Though it turned out "my" sewer thing was on the agenda, I really turned out to hear more on the water tower and the CDTC study.  I thought there might be more concrete promises for the Comp Plan than was offered.  I've heard that tune way too many times before to believe it.  If the agenda hadn't been so chock full, I'd have launched my call for a moratorium but I don't want it getting lost in the sea...there was information overload tonight and it didn't seem productive to introduce that initiative tonight.

Maybe the 'PILOT' will pay for the water tower????

Board cool to bid for storage yard permit Property owner has history of violating town ordinances

    Michael Marotta’s application to build a contractor shop and storage yard on his land in Pattersonville received a chilly reception from the town Planning Commission Tuesday.
    Earlier this month, Marotta applied to the commission for a special use permit that would allow him to build a shop and fenced-in equipment yard on his five acres off Route 5S.
    Engineer Mark Blackstone, representing Marotta, said the proposal was a result of a recent town court order. Blackstone said Marotta was directed by the court to submit plans that would bring the property’s use into compliance with town ordinance.
    “We are here as a direct result of a court order,” he said. “The court felt he needs to exhaust all avenues to legitimize his occupancy.”
    Regardless of Marotta’s reasons for applying, members of the commission expressed disapproval. Chairman Lawrence DiLallo said Marotta’s poor history of compliance with Rotterdam’s ordinances did not reflect well on his plans.
    “It’s almost an insult to our intelligence for Mr. Marotta to think we’d even consider this proposal,” he said during the meeting.
    The project also received criticism from the commissioners of the Pattersonville Fire Department, which cited an 18-year history of the company complaining to the town about hazardous conditions on Marotta’s property. They cited, for example, the danger caused by Marotta’s practice of moving vehicles between a cluttered property and a busy state highway after dark.
    “Conditions would improve slightly only when complaints were filed, then would become worse than before,” stated Fire Commissioner Anthony DiMascio in a letter to the town.

If Mr. Marotta is applying for a legal permit and is attempting to do things 'the right way' than he should absolutely be granted this permit.

Only if allowed....let him pay all fees and dont forget he also has to pay for all the studies, as would any other developer......

Mr. Marotta needs to be treated just like anyone or any other business. He should be treated as kindly as Mr. Popolizio, don't ya think? I do!

Bum and Senders.......you guys really think he will play by the rules.  After the tax dollars this guy has wasted by trying to skirt the law and get over on every government agency going you really think he will play nice now????  If nothing else the recommendation of the Fire Department should have a great influence.  He would comply for a short time and go back to doing what he pleased when someone wasn't looking.  

That's fine(not really) but my point was that Rotterdam requires 'trust money' for studies and the 'in case it doesn't work' issues,,,treat him like a developer....that is what he is trying to do is make himself 'legit'.....if he has to pay first maybe he will think about it? who knows.....

Knowing Mr Marotta 's past history both here and in Colonie very well, this man will never obey any law or request. The court did not suggest he apply for code changes.  They told him unless he could get a special use permit . He had to have his junk out by July 14th. Period. I heard it from the town lawyer . The county is trying to get the final parcel  4 acres of the 12 acres. He failed to pay his taxes on the other parcels and there are several liens on the property . If anyone thinks this guy is ever going to comply with anything and have anything but a illegal junkyard on zone 3 of our recharge, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

While this isn't in the town I live in it effects me indirectly through my county tax dollars.  He is using county resources ie: the county attorney, real property service, county planning, etc.  Not to mention the resources of the Town.  IMHO he is using the system to get what he wants and will go back to his old tricks if and when he gets it.

I see your point.....like I pay my taxes and continue to see "my baby's daddy" just free stylin' all over the place......

Perhaps these accusations are warrentted for Mr. Marotta. I only know what I have read or heard LATELY. The first I even heard of Mr.Marotta was last year. The media gave the impression that this all JUST happened. So I thought it was overkill. Apparently it is actually long over due.  (Thanks yarbdoc!! )

Lets hope Marotta doesn't pull another fast one. After the last clean up by the county of a  abandoned house at the site, they auctioned off the property, a lawyer bought it for about 4 grand and less than a year later sold it to Mrs Marotta for one dollar. Marotta was not allowed to bid on it but his mom got it! As for there being bulldozers and dump trucks on the site, not a one, just tractor trailers, old construction site trailers  registrations are out of state and expired. Also he was driving his truck with expired plates which the cops took! Nice guy huh? Mr law and order...

Some folks just cant 'get it together' enough to get by without issues.....
