What a hypocrite. You never made any of it happen, and when it was announced you were as quiet as a church mouse like all the other democraps. And if you think that you are gonna sell your line of bull then I can tell you that there is a short man of large stature who will vehemently tell you to your face how little you had to do with it. Team-Rotterdam. what bullshit. More group think.
You are misinformed or lying. When the Parks and Recreation Commission met during the summer, I metthe president of the Challenger League for the first time. When he informed me and the rest of the
commission to find a new home for the league -- I and most of the commission IMMEDIATELY were supportive of the efforts. When Mr. Tomassone and the Challengers came to an understanding about the league
using the fields at Woestina -- I and most of the commission was supportive and offered our assistance in
whatever way we could. When the Daily Gazette printed that article last October trying to make a political issue out of the proposal -- I and most of the commission stood behind the Challengers and we reiterated
that it should NOT become a political issue. I spoke with at least 3 of the 4 candidates of my party who
were running for the Town Board -- and shared my views with them -- and they were supportive of the
Challengers moving to Woestina and agreed that the use of the fields should NOT be a political issue.
The priority of the Parks and Recreation Commission was and remains find the most reasonable solution(s) to allow EVERY league in the town to be able to continue to offer their programs and to LET THE PARKS BE ENJOYED BY THE PLAYERS (kids and in the case of the Challengers participants of all ages).
I was NEVER quiet as a church mouse on the issue. I went to the candidate forum at the Senior Center and
was quite vocal in expressing my displeasure that anyone would try to make the question of a new home for the challengers a political issue. I recall that the fat bald guy who used to be on the County Legislature
tried to provoke an argument by implying that I was in cahoots with the person quoted in the Daily Gazette article. The FACT is that other than saying hello to that person (the one quoted in the Gazette) at a
couple of events earlier in the year -- I have never had more than a passing conversation with that person ..and certainly never even spoke about Rotterdam Parks in general or the Woestina issue.
After the election, I met with the Supervisor-elect and -again - reiterated that not only me but most of the
Parks Commission supported the Challengers being allowed to use the fields at Woestina. He agreed with me that there was a reasonable way to resolve the "dispute" and that most importantly --- let the kids have fun and enjoy the ball fields.
Sometime soon after the 1st of January, I again spoke with the Supervisor about working out the "dispute" .. I gave the supervisor the phone numbers of the heads of the two leagues and sat there as he called them both up to set up a meeting in the Supervisor's office to resolve the "dispute".
As I have said all along, the Challengers and their supporters raised the money and did the work. I have
never said or implied anything more. But I will NOT let you continue to lie about me on this issue.
Finally, the bottom line is that the Challengers embody the philosophy of what WE (not just me) on the Parks Commission refer to as TEAM-Rotterdam. Town residents working together to accomplish a goal that
improves the town in general and the parks & recreation program specifically.
The fact that you and your ilk keep trying to twist this issue into a political issue SPEAKS VOLUMES about
how you will roll in the sh*t to discredit the good work of anybody -- including the Challengers -- for your
political gain.
