THE NRA HAS SPENT DECADES TELLING AMERICANS THAT
THEY CAN AND SHOULD HAVE ASSAULT WEAPONS SO THEY
CAN TAKE UP ARMS AGAINST THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT.
A MAN IN DALLAS JUST DID THAT, KILLING 5 COPS.

Did you see any violence among the demonstrators?
Were the Black Lives Matter protesters shot along with the Dallas Police?
Did the police report any violence among the demonstrators???

The Dallas shooter used "armor piercing ammo" against the Dallas cops. The same
"Armored Piercing Rounds" that the NRA lobbied for and successfully beat back a ban
along with Cop Killer Teflon Bullets. Once again, the NRA (and their supporters) have
blood on their hands.

No, he didn't use AP rounds. You want to try again?

Buky is now going to give you the NRA approved "definition" of armor piercing
rounds.  Kind of like the same NRA BS that "teflon" bullets are not actually
"cop killer" bullets.

So Buck... Do you support the ban of 'Military Armor Piercing Rounds' to us
citizens???  Or do you support the NRA's view that they should  be available
for anyone to buy.

Man, you just make things too easy for me.

Let's start at the top. There is no such thing as a 'NRA definition' of a AP round. Your hatred and ignorance just make you look stupid....Not that you need any help in that department.

The definition of AP ammo is as follows ...

18 USC sec. 921(a)(17).

17)(A) The term “ammunition” means ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets, or propellent powder designed for use in any firearm.

(B) The term “armor piercing ammunition” means-

    (i) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or

(ii) a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile.

(C) The term “armor piercing ammunition” does not include shotgun shot required by Federal or State environmental or game regulations for hunting purposes, a frangible projectile designed for target shooting, a projectile which the Attorney General finds is primarily intended to be used for sporting purposes, or any other projectile or projectile core which the Attorney General finds is intended to be used for industrial purposes, including a charge used in an oil and gas well perforating device.

Second. There is no such thing as a 'military armor piercing rounds'....This is just another fantasy construct.

Third. 'Cop Killer' bullets is yet another media made up word with absolutely no truth to it.......Oh and they were made for handguns, not rifles.

What's the deal with teflon coated bullets?

During the early 1980s, there was quite a bit of controversy about teflon-coated bullets. Some news articles even went so far as to label them as "cop killers". The reader is probably thinking at this point, "Teflon? Isn't that the stuff that they coat non-stick cooking pans with? Why is that so dangerous?" This article aims to clear up the mystery.

Our story starts in the 1960s, when a company called KTW Inc. (named after the founders last names, Kopsch, Turcos and Ward) from Ohio was trying to develop a bullet with better penetration characteristics. Common handgun bullets which were largely made of lead, had the problem of deforming upon hitting a hard surface, such as a car door or a windshield, and became less effective after they deformed. KTW was trying to invent a better bullet for use by police departments (in fact, one of the founders, Daniel Turcos, was a police sergeant at that time and the other two founders worked in the coroner's office of the Ohio police department).

They eventually settled on a bullet design that consisted of a steel core, with an outer jacket made of hardened brass. This bullet offered much better penetration than older lead bullets, but it had a problem because of the hardened brass layer on the outside of the bullet. This hard layer did not engage the handgun's rifling very well and the friction caused the barrels to wear out prematurely. To reduce the barrel wear, the inventors coated the outside of the bullets with teflon, because teflon is very slippery and is one of the best lubricating substances known to man (the same reasons why teflon is used to coat the surfaces of non-stick pots and pans).

In 1982, NBC ran a special television report on these bullets where they argued that these bullets were a danger to police officers (many police departments had requested NBC not to run that program). After that television show, many American gun-control groups started to call these bullets as "cop killers" because they could penetrate the ballistic vests that many policemen used to wear at that time. Unfortunately, many of these reports wrongly reported that the teflon coating was the reason that these bullets had better penetration, rather than the hardened brass jacket which was the real reason. Movies and TV shows continued to spread the myth that coating ordinary bullets with teflon suddenly made them capable of piercing armor plates.

Because of the publicity, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oregon and Oklahoma have laws that make it illegal to possess teflon coated bullets, while Virginia makes it illegal to use teflon coated bullets to commit a crime.

KTW stopped producing these bullets in the 1990s and they're not encountered as much these days. However, there are other manufacturers who coat their bullets with other lubricating substances, such as molybdenum disulfide, wax, lubalox etc.

Fourth....Where in any report says that the shooter used AP rounds?

Finally.... Why don't you educate yourself on body armor....I highly doubt that the Dallas cops were wearing Class IV body armor during the protest.

Anything else you need me to debunk for you?

So... Then The Thousands (maybe 7 or 8 thousand) rounds of US Military Armor Piercing
rounds that I fired, didn't exist.
(Funny how much noise those non existent rounds make)
The maybe hundreds of thousands of armor piercing rounds fired by others when
demonstrating weapons also didn't exist.
(Again... very loud non existent rounds)
The m-1 & m16 fired standard issue blacktip armor piercing rounds:
Quoted Text
Cartridge, Caliber 7.62mm, NATO, Armor Piercing, M61 (United States):
150.5-grain (9.8 g) 7.62×51mm NATO armor-piercing round, black cartridge tip.

These rounds were the subject of legislation to ban them for civilian use in the USA.  The
NRA successfully bought votes to kill the ban.

For general issue, the U.S. Army adopted the M855A1 (5.56) round in 2010 to replace the M855. The
primary reason was pressure to use non-lead bullets. The lead slug is replaced by a copper alloy slug
in a reverse-drawn jacket, with a hardened steel penetrator extending beyond the jacket, reducing
lead contamination to the environment. The M855A1 offers several improvements other than being
lead-free. It is slightly more accurate, has better consistency of effect in regards to wounding ability,
and has an INCREASED PENETRATING CAPACITY. The round can better penetrate steel, brick, concrete,
and masonry walls, as well as BODY ARMOR and sheet metal. It penetrates 3⁄8 in (9.5 mm) of mild steel
at 350 meters, which the M855 can only do at 160 meters.
Also: These rounds are or were in standard use (Some people claim they DON'T EXIST!

***SS109/M855 NATO ball can penetrate up to 3 mm (0.12 in) of steel at 600 meters. According to
Nammo, a Norwegian ammunition producer, the 5.56×45mm NATO M995 ARMOR PIERCING CARTRIDGE
can penetrate up to 12 mm (0.47 in) of RHA steel at 100 meters.
***Cartridge, Caliber 5.56 mm, Ball, XM777: 5.56×45mm ball cartridge. An attempt to create a 55-grain
SS109-style  SEMI ARMOR PIERCING round that weighed the same as the M193 and could use the same
US-standard 1-in-12-inch rifling. It replaced the 6x45mm SAW round as the baseline cartridge for the
Squad Automatic Weapon trials in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
***Cartridge, Caliber 5.56 mm, ARMOR PIERCING, M995 [Black tip]: 5.56×45mm 52-grain AP cartridge

You can't purchase M855A1 rounds or M995 rounds.

But please tell us more about stuff you can't buy.
