A 27-year-old Fulton, N.Y., nurse convicted of photographing an unconscious patient’s penis with her iPhone last year has given up her nursing license, the New York state Health Department has announced.
Kristen Johnson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disseminating of unlawful surveillance photo and agreed to surrender her license in a plea deal to reduce the charge from a felony, WRGB TV reported.

Johnson, who “did not contest the charge of moral unfitness in the practice,” was placed on three years’ probation.
The former nurse at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse was arrested in May 2015 after authorities say she took photos of the patients at the hospital and then sent them to her co-workers.
Syracuse.com reports that Johnson also used her iPhone to take a video of another nurse cleaning an incapacitated female patient’s gastrointestinal blood clot.
“Despite what certain people seem to think, it is a crime in the state of New York to view, broadcast or record images of another person’s intimate body parts, surreptitiously,” Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said in a statement reported by Syracuse.com.
Johnson, has not worked at the hospital since August 2014, was the subject of a nine-month investigation.
Hospital officials said Johnson’s case does not reflect the more than 2,000 staff members who are “committed to the care and safety of their patients.”
