Tampa, Fla.-based Granite Services, which maintains and services power generation equipment as an wholly owned affiliate of General Electric Co., is closing its Schenectady office and eliminating 41 jobs. It cited loss of a contract in its notification to the New York State Department of Labor.

The local office is based in Building 53 at the GE campus in downtown Schenectady. The office will close by March 31.

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.

But GE is adding 100 positions in Schenectady - in other parts of the business - according to the company.
