One would be hard-pressed to find many issues on which billionaire businessman Donald Trump and libertarian former Texas congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul would be considered like-minded, but when it comes to the corrupt GOP elites and the influence they exert on the electoral process, they are singing the same tune.
Paul recently appeared on RT America’s “The Fishtank” and declared the system to be rigged ito keep outsiders and “independent thinkers” from succeeding.
“I see elections as so much of a charade. So much deceit goes on,” Paul stated, no doubt referring to the manner in which the GOP establishment had changed the rules at the 2012 convention in order to freeze him and his supporters out while handing the nomination to candidate Mitt Romney.
“I’ve worked on the assumption … for many, many decades, that whether there’s a Republican or a Democrat president, the people who want to keep the status quo seem to have their finger in the pot and can control things,” Paul said.
“They just get so nervous, though, if they have an independent thinker out there — whether it’s Sanders, or Trump or Ron Paul, they’re going to be very desperate to try to change things,” he added.
Though Paul can in no way be confused as a Trump supporter, he nevertheless is pleased with the fact that Trump’s campaign has resulted in “more people are discovering that the system is all rigged and voting is just pacification for the voters and it really doesn’t count,” adding, “I don’t think there’s an easy way out for the establishment or the parties.”
As to his own ouster from the 2012 presidential race at the hands of the GOP establishment, Paul said, “I was upset about it but didn’t want to waste too much energy being angry because this is the way the system works. It’s a rotten system.”
Hopefully the groundbreaking efforts at exposing and defeating the corrupt elites that control the political establishment on both sides by candidates like Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump will succeed in forcing those political power brokers to relent their tight grasp on the process and be more transparent.
