Quoted Text
...
McCarthy previously said he would require the next police chief to live in the city.

“I want people to live in the city,” he said. “I want everybody to live in the city. Not just the police chief. It’s a community with a lot of opportunity and a lot of great things happening.”
...

Yes, McCarthy previously said, but that was a big fat lie.

If the city was so great, ALL department heads would WANT to live IN the city.   If the city was so great ALL city employees would WANT to live IN the city.   If the city was so great, Buicko, Morris, Mallozzi, Marcella, etc. would WANT to live IN the city.   If the city was so wonderful, retail business would WANT to open up downtown without handouts from the taxpayers.

Yes, McCarthy says lots of great things are happening   ROFL.   What's happening?  Despite hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in the name of so called "economic development" has resulted in a REDUCTION of the tax base.   The city has achieved the highest over-assessed properties in the whole state of NY.

The mayor says there's lots of opportunity.   Sure there is.   There is lots of opportunity for rich who will have NOTHING to do with living IN the city to get richer on the backs of the taxpayers.

So just when is the mayor going to keep his promise and make those who get the taxpayers' money live they get rich.   Never of course.

Mayor McCarthy has NOT named a new police chief yet.  So how can anyone accuse him of not demanding that the new chief live in the city?
As for Mr. Buicko, Mr. Morris and Mr. Marcella (Who by the way are all very nice people), they are NOT employees of the city.  Any reasonable and reasonably intelligent person would know that the private citizens are NOT subject to the residency requirements of municipal employees.
Finally, the author(s) of this thread does NOT live in the city and thus loses any credibility when constantly whining and complaining about this issue.

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.

True, the mayor has not named the new chief yet.  But notice the words that the mayor "previously said," which means he wants the news chief to live IN the city.   Just like he has claimed that ALL department heads live IN the city.

Excuse me DV, but would you care to tell us what the mayor did to the previous assessor??????     Well??????     Got an answer??????
He fired the previous assessor because she did not live IN the city nor would she move INTO the city.

But Chaires, did McCarthy make him move INTO the city?    Well, DV????    Yes or No?

THen he appointed Kilcullen, did the mayor make him live IN the city???????    The FACT is that McCarthy fired ONE department head because of not living IN the city, but he allowed another department head to live not only NOT IN Schenectady, but not even in the county!   Oh so supposedly he slept at his mother's house IN the city on days he worked.  Did any outside entity, e.g., the state, ever audit that?

So we'll see if he requires the next chief to live IN the city.

But DV, can you tell us WHY few of the police want to live IN the city?    Why don't they DV?

As for Buicko, Morris, Marcella, Mallozzi, true, they are not city employees, but DV, where to they get there money from??????    As you are NOT a taxpayer, you do not understand.   The homeowners IN the city are paying the bulk of their taxes.   They are all getting big bucks and getting rich off the taxpayers IN the city.

So DV, tell us WHY the city is not acceptable enough for Buicko, Morris, Marcella, Mallozzi, etc. to live in, own their homes, and pay taxes to?   Tell us DV.   Why isn't the city good enough for those who get rich off the taxes of the homeowners?

WHY isn't the city good enough for YOU to live IN?????

The mayor says the city is improving, but the richer political cronies getting richer off the taxpayer money want NOTHING to do with living IN the city, they do NOT want to live IN the city which has a falling tax base, they do NOT want to live IN a city where their home value would go down, where essential services are getting cut, schools are pathetic, and the city with the highest crime around here.   You DO agree with these FACTS, don't you DV????   Of course you are free to provide evidence to contradict what I wrote (show us from official records how the tax base is increasing, that tax BILLS are decreasing, that city services are increasing, etc.

Absolutely the truth.  Yes, just open up an mdb file called "city employees" and do a query for name, title, and address.  Couldn't ben any easier.  Maybe 2 minutes worth of effort.

But NEVER will McCarthy produce such a list because it would be so embarrassing, so embarrassing that McCarthy would have to flee to another country to avoid being laughed at when the average resident would learn how few city employees live IN the city.

Information that taxpayers should know but another big secret by the mayor.

WHY isn't the city good enough for YOU to live IN?????

Because it's the highest taxed around, it is the most over-assessed city in the whole state of NY, and I have the brains to avoid buying a house that falls in value.  I trust you do know that home values in the city are falling in Schenectady, the "housing crisis" is over, home values outside of the city are rising.

Also I would not want to live where a mayor keeps secrets from the people (e.g., origin of that Jay St fire has been determined and here it is 10 months later and we still do not know anything about that inspection only hours before---really how long does it take to read an inspection report and look at city records to see if the city issued rental certificates of occupancy, in these days of computers it is so pitifully easy to look up on a computer, enter an address, and see if that address had rental certificates.   Also why did the city FAIL to get after the one owner over lack of insurance which the building's owners are supposed to provide a copy of the insurance policy to the city with the city named on the policy (guess you never learned that in your failed insurance job).

I would not want to live in a city where the mayor takes care of his precious rich cronies downtown and fails to adequately plow streets in the neighborhoods.

And I would not want to live in a city where the mayor CLEARLY ignores state law---in publishing the foreclosures in local newspapers, and also in refusing to keep the assessments in a uniform percent of value.

I also would not want to risk my life getting shot or stabbed.

I would not want to pay the taxes of the millionaires and billionaire political cronies.

And why should homeowners in the city, who pay almost the highest taxes in the state be forced to pay for the demolition of a building owned by the billionaire Galesi.  Tell us DV, why should people with incomes of $40,000 have to pay for the demo of a property owned by a billionaire.   Why, DV?????

And paying extra taxes in handouts to build UNNECESSARY apartments in a city that has a record high number of EXISTING residential units (both apartments and houses).

DV, I don't "whine" about the city, I state FACTS and I back them up with EVIDENCE.
