5 Reasons to suspect Jesus never existed
Most antiquities scholars think that the New Testament gospels are “mythologized history.” In other words, based on the evidence available they think that around the start of the first century a controversial Jewish rabbi named Yeshua ben Yosef gathered a following and his life and teachings provided the seed that grew into Christianity. At the same time, these scholars acknowledge that many Bible stories like the virgin birth, miracles, resurrection, and women at the tomb borrow and rework mythic themes that were common in the Ancient Near East, much the way that screenwriters base new movies on old familiar tropes or plot elements. In this view, a “historical Jesus” became mythologized.
1. No first century secular evidence whatsoever exists to support the actuality of Yeshua ben Yosef 2. The earliest New Testament writers seem ignorant of the details of Jesus’ life, which become more crystalized in later texts. 3. Even the New Testament stories don’t claim to be first-hand accounts. 4. The gospels, our only accounts of a historical Jesus, contradict each other. 5. Modern scholars who claim to have uncovered the real historical Jesus depict wildly different persons. |

Then all the Abrahamic religions got Jesus wrong. Muslims included. That's a total of 54% of the world's population that believe in a person that never existed. |

Don't bother... Its just Boxy the Atheist, flaming away for a response he knows will come from the Christians on this board. It's what most of his posts are about...to get under the skin of Christians, republicans, and conservatives, or "climate change skeptics" (that one is the height of his hypocrisy)... It must get his rocks off or something....so pathetic and sad...must be all that's left to do when he isn't puking hydrocarbons into the air from his motor toys.... |

So... the majority of people at one time thought that the world was flat... so that must have been true too. I wonder how many people believe that santa clause is real??? |

| We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. |

Is it any more ridiculous than believing unnamed "antiquities scholars"? |

I guess since there are no "antiquities scholars" living in Cissy's neighborhood, they just don't exist. (I've never seen a polar bear in the wild, so they do not exist)
Quoted Text
Wall Street Journal: BEIRUT—Islamic State militants beheaded Khalid Asaad, one of Syria’s most prominent antiquities scholars in the ancient city of Palmyra, the Syrian government said on Wednesday, inflicting yet another casualty in their anti-idolatry campaign across the heart of the Middle East.

Don't ya love Cissy's logic. His next post will be: "Khalid Asaad" is a polar bear! |

When did Polar Bears come into the conversation? I thought we were talking about historical records of Jesus' existence? Are all the people mentioned in the Bible and Koran just fictional characters? |

Why you ask? Because your secular government passed a LAW recognizing Christmas as a national holiday. I'm with you though, ignore the law and say Happy Holidays. |
