It sure is great to be Mayor Gary McCarthy! While the average Schenectady family earns under $40k per year, Mayor McCarthy is what is known as a "double dipper." He took home $100,000 as Mayor in 2014, on top of his NY State yearly retirement pay out of $65,000, for neat little total of $165,000 courtesy of Schenectady taxpayers. But his largesse doesn't end there! Let's take a look at the virtual who's who of Developers, Lawyers, Engineering Firms, Contractors, and Unions who have written Friends of Gary McCarthy some nice fat checks over $500 during 2015. Take note that of all the local and out of town firms are jockeying for contracts, Sweetheart Union deals, and planning board approvals.
Each $1000 they save doing business in our city gets added right onto our Property tax bills! These "Pay To Play" donations will negate any possible savings on your tax bills. As usual, the proceeds from all the construction going on will wind up in the pockets of the connected few, while you get stuck footing the bill!
