NOT in Schenectady.   How come?

We're not ones to go eat food from all those fast food places anyway so it doesn't affect us.  But lots of people swear by Sonic, they love it. To each his own.

speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Sonic is overpriced yuppie food, that doesn't even taste good.

I lived next to one for years, it was nothing more than a fad.

^ This.

Went to the one in Latham this summer, other than the fries it was pretty frickin horrible.

One of the big draws of Sonic is the Nostalgic car-hop thing... I still don't think it will sell long term in the Northeast with the cold winters.

As far as Sonic being a fad, there are three in the Myrtle Beach, SC area have been there for years and show no signs of trouble.

I haven't visited the Sonic in Latham but I have visited them other places, I usually go there for the drinks and desserts and that's about it.

Exactly.  In vacation destinations, they'll remain busy.  Not so much here in snowy NY

I've never been to a Sonic, and know nothing about them, except for their commercials on TV.

Am I the only one here who thinks that their commercials are weird?

Two grown men, acting like 10 year olds???

My brother and I went to a Sonic in northeast Pennsylvania and another down south on the way to Texas.  The food is nothing to write home about.  The novelty of the drive-in experience from the 50's and 60's is what you are paying for.
Dairy Queen - the new ones being built and not the old ones of days gone by - are pretty good.  However, it depends on the franchise owner.  The Dairy Queen on Seven Bridges Road near Shawnee, PA is a "jumping" place during the summer.  They schedule different events during the summer - like a Classic Car Night.    Something like that would really go over well in Rotterdam.

The 1st generation of Sonic commercials, featuring a fictional married couple, were classics...

Everytime I drive by the Sonic in Latham there is a chain across the entrance. Is there another entrance, or do they just not let people in if they are full?

I've never had any desire to try the place out. I'm not much of a fan of fast food (although I tried Chipolte last week for the first time and was pleasantly surprised--by the taste at least--the price--aye, aye, aye). I agree the commercials are weird and just add to my already unpleasant view of the place. Do people really want all these boring, everything is the same places?

they don't care if anyone thinks the commercials are weird.....as long as folks remember them.
that's what good advertisers do...and they did a good job on this one.

I don't think the point is to weird people out to the point they don't want to step foot in your business though. I haven't been to a Burger King since those creepy commercials they used to have. Lol
