kiddo....i'm not dancing around anything.

my issue was and has been...........why do we need a law to allow a procedure that is already a practice and has been for decades.

obviously the good ole' government needs to create yet ANOTHER law.....for votes!!!

kiddo, you are the one that made a ridiculous claim that Hospice can "make it happen" if someone wants to die!!!
You obviously are standing by that stupid statement, which makes you an even bigger IDIOT!
You just keep circling back to making statements that DO NOT ANSWER YOUR RIDICULOUS CLAIM!!!!!
How about it...show us support that Hospice will make death happen if someone wants to die...after all,
those are YOUR WORDS...k

a 40 year old person had MD appointment and finds out they have terminal cancer with a 6-10month window, with treatment it could be
up to 2 years...at any given time, PRIOR to having pain that person should be able to 'opt out'....

the law would be to allow that person to get a hold of the drugs to do it 'humanely'

the 'law' would protect the MD who prescribed it and the person administering it....just like abortion only in the 'adult' sense....

Let me say first that I think Hospice is a great organization which performs a needed service during the end of stage of life.

With that said, if you go to a Hospice facility (i.e. St Peters Hospice Inn), part of what Bumblethru says is true, depending on how you look at it.

They will certainly feed and give fluids to a client that can drink and eat on their own, but they WILL NOT provide those services to a client that is unconcious. In other words, they will not provide a feeding tube or hang a bag of saline. They consider that to be artificial support. A person that enters Hospice knows that (or should).
If the person is incapacitated, the health care proxy could decide to remove the client from Hospice care and place them in Hospital care.

I speak from experience as my wife had end stage Ovarian Cancer and  she decided to enter Hospice. I was her health care proxy, and I had to make the call to check her into Hospice Inn when she became incapacitated
I struggled with whether to pull her out of Hospice as one side of the Family frankly did not understand the concept of Hospice. I did not pull her out because having her go through more procedures and pain was pointless.
The Hospice Inn DID push very hard for me to sign a DNR as one was not done before hand. At first, I felt pressured, but looking back it was for the best because resusatative procedures are NOT like you see on TV and I didn't want her to go through that.

Sorry for your loss and fully understand what you went through...it is a difficult point in life
that many face and some don't. Mom had DNR that she wanted when she first entered Nursing Home.
It was tough watching her decline over a 1 week period before the end (3 yrs later). Hospice had been there
during her whole stay and I'm grateful they were.  I guess that's why Bumblers ridiculous claim
annoys me, because in no way did they/would they help to end life as Bumbler has stated
and stands by. They made sure her medical and personal needs were met during her stay.

hospice is a good support for the FAMILY much more so than the patient.....I know someone who is elder and does not meet
hospice qualifications (according to the government regulations) but wants to die and has basically stopped eating...
Hospice CANNOT accept them because of the patient's choice to not eat, even though we all know what happens when someone
doesn't eat....

just w-a-y toooo much government control.

i'v had loved ones who were diagnosed w/cancer and when the doc was asked how long they had to live.....the docs would say that they are not God, have seen miracles happen, so they would not set a time/prognosis.

every situation is different.......but they are all handled just fine....the end result is the same............WITHOUT another law.

IF you sign a DNR it means just that, and I applaud Hospice for following the wishes of the patient.
In many cases, forced feeding and ventilation doesn't add one 'quality of life' day to the patient but
will add weeks or months of misery.

If you want to be fed and ventilated artificially, hospice will honor those wishes too.  The decision isn't
Hospices to make.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

hospice will honor a ventilator and tf for only so long and then you 'graduate' from hospice.....

they have VERY VERY VERY specific requirements to be met to get paid by the government.....

hospice isn't some 'free' service........

it is it's own entity with strict rules.....
