these DUI check points are not fair. Everyone knows that during the holidays people drink and drive more.
They should suspend the DUI statute between thanksgiving and New years and issue a public service announcement to tell people to watch out for drunk drivers. Just be more vigilant and stop complaining.  and lower the drinking age back to 18

First the city and towns legislated local neighborhood bars out of existence, then people started drinking and driving at higher numbers.

Over 90% of all DUI arrests have absolutely no victims.

Just like the drug war.

Enforcement does more damage to society than the prohibited activity.

Why aren't bars prohibited from having parking lots?

They should not be serving drinks to people who drive themselves to the bar.

Cops ignore the drunks leaving all the downtown bars.

They are too busy hunting people in the targeted zones.

Having DUI checkpoints for people who are getting off the thruway is merely an excuse to check people out and go fishing for other criminal activities.

Have your DUI checkpoints surrounding every bar, not the thruway.

impairments. Losertarian feels they are victimless, which is absurd. Just because
they are stopped BEFORE they cause problems doesn't make it victimless...makes it
prevention of a potential disaster that could be minor or major or potentially life threatening or worse.
I'm sure if you or a loved one were injured by a drunk driver, you would be screaming that they should
have been prevented from driving and causing the accident....well that's what these stops are all about!

Yup, and if you lost a loved one in a mass shooting by a mentally ill homicidal maniac, it means that ALL American gun owners  should be stopped whenever the state wishes and submit to a psychological evaluation. You know..,to stop a potential disaster.  Owning a gun is implied consent to submit to random detainment to check mental hygiene.

How did she accidentally get pregnant?  She trip and fall onto a loaded penis?  

Maybe there should be a task force that goes into bars and check and prevent unprotected one-night-stands.  And before having sex, unmarried couples should have to stand before a state board to evaluate if the love is "forever".  I think the state should do more in preventing hurt feelings too.
