How ironic. Anyone see the TV news yesterday? The new hotel at the Sara. Raceway and Casino is being built with steel purchased from our local company,Sch'dy Steel. The topping off of the building with the last beam was broadcast on the news yesterday with the Sch'dy Steel name written across said beam. Whats ironic is the Rush casino now being built in Sch'dy,right next door to STS Steel, will not be using any steel from that company. It is rather being purchased from a vendor not only not local, but not even within NYS. That does not help the NYS economy,jobs, or any sales tax revenue potentially derived from these purchases. Am aware there is bad blood between Galessi and STS Steel according to an employee at STS Steel we talked to. And the owner of the company even voiced his less than ammicable relationship with the Galessi group. This was at a Metroplex meeting televised on Open Stage Media earlier this year, as all Plex meetings are. |

In either case...and to your point.....why isn't the Schenectady casino using local steel companies?
Heard that STS is 'somehow' connected to RUSH. |

From what I read some months ago the vendor for Rush Casino steel is from out of state. Have no idea why the ALCO site is not going local with their steel purchases. Cost,quality issues? One would think that a requirement would of been in place for Galessi to use "x %" of local vendors for the construction of the complex. |
