Quite honestly, I will probably not be voting for ANYONE for any office in the town.  I thought things couldn't get any worse than what the 2 parties gave us in the past 2-4 years .. but it seems that the "race to the bottom"  (that is what Rotterdam politics has sunk to) hasn't quite reached the bottom of the barrel yet.

Yvonne Cleveland is an ACC graduate and Clemson Tiger and is overqualified for town supervisor. Had enough yet? DVOR makes no sense. He supports GOP/Real CONS for State and National offices
but when it comes to the County or City he wants to re-elect the same DEM fiscal nit wits.

First - you did notice that I said that I will probably not ... didn't say definitely not ... be voting for any of the candidates for town office.

Second - Yvonne Cleveland is the only candidate that I do NOT know anything about.  The others -- both parties -- I know them and have met them -- and don't care to see any of them elected to town office.

Third - Just knowing that someone graduated from community college and then a 4 year college isn't enough to convince me to vote for anyone.  We've had a string of college educated supervisors and town board members (both parties) .. that quite honestly .. didn't exactly work out all that well.   I'd have to know more about Cleveland before I would make a final decision whether to vote for her or not.  She is always welcome to stop by the house and introduce herself to the voters that live here.

Fourth - I don't give a rat's a** what party a candidate is from.  Hell - this year it looks like a bunch of candidates (both parties) jumped parties  -- so that says something negative about them right there.  Opportunists .. switching parties when the winds blow.  The minor parties are somewhat of a joke.  They give their endorsements to the highest bidder.   New York should change its laws and allow parties to only nominate candidates who are members of the party.   I 'd rather see 5 candidates for Town Supervisor . 1 dem, 1 rep, 1 con, 1 wf and 1 ind -- rather than just 2 with a bunch of cross-endorsements which mean nothing but that they a) had the right connections or b) made the right offer/deal.

I have only endorsed 1 candidate at the county level and 1 at the city level this year.  I happen to know both of the candidates, think that they have the right stuff to do the job and personally like both of them.  If that bothers you -- too bad -- grow up and get over it.  It is a free country.

Most "meet and greets" require that the voter pay (give a contribution) to meet the candidate(s).  That is not right.  The candidate(s) are applying to WORK FOR US ... we shouldn't have to pay to interview them for the job.  The candidate(s) should come to door or hold a "town hall style" meeting where voters can come for free, meet the candidates and ask questions.
Yvonne Cleveland may very well be a good person and a good candidate for town office.  While I deeply respect and have great admiration for State Senator George Amedore, I prefer to make my decisions about the candidate(s) based on my personally meeting, questioning and observing the candidate(s).

Now you are just acting like an a**.

If the candidate(s) go door to door -- they certainly don't hand out food.  A "town hall style" meeting doesn't have to have food either.  THE WHOLE POINT IS TO ALLOW VOTERS A FREE FORUM TO MEET THE CANDIDATE(S).  That shouldn't be too difficult a concept for you to comprehend.

For those people who want to pay $40, $50 or more dollars to attend a candidate(s) fundraiser - that is their prerogative.  But the voters in general should not have to pay just to meet and talk to the candidate(s).

In the many years that my family has lived in this town, very few politicians ever came to our door to ask for our vote.  I can count on 1 hand the candidates that have - and still have a few fingers free.  If the candidate (D or R or any party) doesn't make the effort to ask, we won't make the effort to cast a vote for them.  Sadly, many Democrats just assume that registered Democrats will vote for them -- without asking.
There is one that has consistently come to our door, asked for our vote and has always gotten our votes.  I won't name names, party or office.   But that individual is a class act.

The other thing that politicians do that irks me and many other voters:  playing the "ethnic card" or "religious affiliation card."  I won't mention names but just because a candidate is of the same ethnic group and/or same religious affiliation doesn't mean that he/she automatically has my vote.   This is especially true of the politicians who year after year play those two cards, expect others to just vote for them and then once in office never do anything to benefit the ethnic group or religious affiliation.  In fact, they actually work against the goals or beliefs of both groups.  The message to those politicians is: if you aren't with us when we need you .. please don't waste your time pretending to be one of us and ask for our campaign $ or votes.

Considering that saying "one hand" and "still have fingers" -- PLURAL -- "free." would mathematically mean you and your family have NEVER voted for more than three different people in your 30+ years of adult life, oops,  being of voting age.    And "our" door, don't you mean your mommies' door?

Considering the signs you've had posted on your mommies' lawn, and considering the photos of you with candidates at their fundraisers, you are just providing more evidence that you are a liar
