I HATED Windows 8 from the first time that I used it.
I would avoid my laptop because it forced me to use Windows 8.
I just updated to Windows 10 and it is AWESOME!!!

Not going to load it until the serious issues with it are solved, namely with graphics drivers, security issues and most importantly 'Windows Update'.

I'm also waiting for some compatibility issues to be solved with some of my games.

Been using WIN 10 for few weeks and not really impressed.
Windows EDGE is new browser replacing IE, and it mimics Chrome in many ways, but not as user friendly as people might claim.
I found IE11 is loaded as part of upgrade and use that as default.
Updates is BIG issue...not thrilled there are no user options.
I have HP laptop with Simple Pass, and that no longer works in WIN 10.

Not sure if this will be of any help.  I uninstalled Simplepass, have no use for it.  I am not pleased with Win10 taking control of their updating.  I usually download then look at each update info to make sure it is something I really need.  I am not going to upgrade at least not at this time.  I have a HP 8.1 Pavillion laptop.  I hate 8.1 but still am not willing to upgrade.  One 8.1 update hosed my internet wireless connections so I don't trust them.

With the proliferation of tablets running Android versions, cell phones running on Android (or Apple) - the desktop won't be in existence for most of the computer market later.

Chrome has a lot of great features - including syncing with desktop and phone/tablet.  Sometimes its absolutely awesome to have that handy.

I've yet to have enough time to convert my desktop to Android, but it is on my to do list.

After several weeks of WIN10 incompatibility issues, even with MS products, I had enough.
I rolled my systems back to 8.1 and very  comfortable. When MS fixes the bugs and issues
with WIN10, I'll consider reloading it again.

Win 10 removes the MS Media Player  they try to tell you to go to MS store to get a player.  VLC is a great FREE media player that handles all kinds of formats you do not have to go to MS Store.   It is a long standing program with good results so when you lose the MS Media Player to play your DVD'S many are installing VLC for Windows.  http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Thought it was MEDIA CENTER and not MEDIA PLAYER?

I stand corrected it is the entire Media Center wihch includes MS Player.  Friends of mine upgrade 7 to 10 and claim cannot download the VLC or any player and can only access the MS Store.  Do you know if this is true?

I removed WIN10, so can't check. But reading indicated WMC and Media Player are removed. Here's article that discusses it and that offers alternatives.

There is so much hype about WIN10 and how great it is...personally I am not impressed and actually disappointed.
I'm back on 8.1 with Start Menu X and very comfortable.

LOL!

Why wouldn't you just pick up a Win7 disk instead of going back to a crappy a** 8.1?

I'm actually shocked about this.

EDIT: RIF....You said you did a rollback. Still you really should have a Win7 disk.

Nope...both computers cam preloaded with WN 8.  Actually, WIN 8/8.1 is not bad at all if you load the start menu program.
I don't use the charms at all. Considering MS not supporting WIN 7 anymore anyway, 8/8.1 is the smarter choice!

Your information is wrong.

MS absolutely supports Win7. I think you are confused with MS dropping it's support of WinXP.
