In comparison to organ/tissue harvesting during abortions, allowing a mother to sell her newborn for adoption to the highest bidder, seems to me, to be a much more merciful option.

Your argument was ridiculous. You compared the biology of human development to humans building structures or baking cakes out of non-living objects. A fertilized human egg reproduces and divides until fully developed, and continues to divide and reproduce until dead. Lumber and un-fertilized chicken eggs in the supermarket cooler is not capable of that. They are non living, they are actually dead and decaying. A fertilized egg is not dead and decaying.
