Those folks also own the Pizza place in the Mall. Another dual owner is the tobacco/head shop and the bric a brac store next to the news stand..

It will be interesting to see what specific plans they submit.

I really like the concept of combining an attraction like this with a privately owned mall.

All along, I have been saying that the only way to revive Rotterdam Square Mall was by rebranding, reinventing and redeveloping the mall.
The new owners have certainly taken the first step towards reinventing the mall.  The aquarium and fun zone, which are just the beginning, will begin to transform the mall into a destination.  I hear rumors that they want to do something around the center fountain area, next.
The new owners should consider renaming/rebranding the mall.  New name for the new image.
They should also consider building a supermarket and a hotel.

I just hope it becomes a great draw for Rotterdam Mall, the taxpayers could use some relief.

I would suggest at least ONE upscale retail store.

No, no supermarket please.  Parking at Colomie Center has become unbearable since they put one in there.

If the aquarium helps keep the place open, that's great, but I just wish we could have someone to shop for retail normal items without having to go to Albany county.

Parking was unbearable LONGGGGGGG before they ever put Whole Foods in Colonie Center.
Quite frankly, Whole Foods is NOT the type of supermarket that we need.  Shop-Rite would be my preference.

That is true, the parking has always been bad, but it is so much worse now. I use to be able to at least find parking at the Penny's end. No more.

I love that Shop Rite delivers. It was so helpful when the spouse was hospitalized. Ordered on line, picked a time and just made sure I was gone during that two hour window. Best thing ever.  I find shopping at the locations tedious though. The Niskiyuna one has such narrow aisles and can be so difficult to maneuver.

Penney's is at Crossgate's - not Colonie Center where Whole Foods is located.  Penney's is the only decent store in Crossgate's.  Forget the Penney's in Clifton Park -- no service whatsoever there.

The Shop Rite in Niskayuna is small because it was fit into an existing building.   The typical Shop Rite (like the one in Colonie) has a bigger footprint -- more square footage, wider aisles, etc.

Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Trader Joe's are all over-priced and over-rated ..  IMHO.

Sorry, meant Sears, not Penny's....they all seem the same after a while.

The Niskayuna Shop Rite is the largest I have been in. I worked in one downstate when I was in college and that one was even smaller. Of course that was back in the day when all the Supermarkets were much smaller. Too much junk food in stores now and not enough real food. That is a different discussion all together though.

ROTTENdam doesn't need another 'market/grocery' store.
there is more than enough and with many choices.
ROTTENdam needs at least ONE upscale retail store.
