The 7 Blessed Sacraments of the Catholic Church

Baptism

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

  Eucharist

Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

  Reconciliation

The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Marriage

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.

Holy Orders

In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, or Ordination, the priest being ordained vows to lead other Catholics by bringing them the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming the Gospel, and by providing other means to holiness.

Anointing of the Sick

The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.

But so what?  That's the f**king context to my post douche.  I responded to the first post on the thread.

So why doesn't anybody answer the friggin question?  Why do Christians give two shits about who the state licenses?  A Christian marriage is a RELIGOUS CEREMONY, NOT A STATE ISSUED LICENSE.  If the state issues state licenses for same sex couples, and Christians do not believe that lines up with their religious beliefs, THEN DON'T ASK FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE FROM THE STATE.  If MILLIONS of Christians stopped paying for marriage licenses because it doesn't fit their religious beliefs, Christians would starve state governments of millions of dollars in licensing fees collected by the state.  The money they don't pay the state can go directly to their church to perform the ceremony.  YOU WIN CHRISTIANS!

Cissy is an argument looking for a place to happen.

Marriages are official business with rights and responsibilities.  The state issues that license and it
also offers that religious services come under that license.

Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jew, etc... it makes no difference.  A marriage is a contract between two
people, and that contract is recognized by the state for certain rights and as such it is regulated by
the state.
This isn't about Marriage for cicero... It's about his hate of anything that he sees as having any
authority over him.
Read his posts and you'll see his obvious resentment for authority complex.

philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Which is it box?  Is a marriage a contract between two people, or is it a license issued by the state?  I can write up a contract with you right now. You seem to have two legal contradictions. Civil Unions are already recognized between same sex couples.  A marriage license is permission from the state and is issued based on meeting state requirements, a contract is a legal document agreed upon by both parties.

Same sex marriage have nothing to do with equal rights.  It's about(as box just said) the governments authority to regulate the union between two people(The sex o the couple doesn't matter).  Progressives pretend they want government out of the bedroom, but as box just clearly stated, the progressives WANT the state to license and regulate what goes on in everybody's bedroom(straight or gay).

Why do Christians give two shits about state licensing of same sex couples?  A state marriage license is a secular union permitted by the state.

In the context of boxy's first post and according to the bible(because that was what boxy's first post was about) - it's a religious ceremony not a state license.

Why do Christians give two shits who the state issues marriage licenses to?  Do you have any opinion on that joseppi?

A CHRISTIAN marriage is a legal CONTRACT... by the authority of the STATE, not the authority of the church.

Really?  So much for your sacred separation of church and state....

In box's America - medical care is a guaranteed right, and marriage is a state granted privilege.

Yes, I already know you are unable read posts in context.  That's why you are by far the worst conversationalist on the message board.  Sometimes I think you quote things out of context just to play gotcha....Now I'm starting to come to the conclusion that you are just plain ole stupid.

Yup, the Queen of avoidance strikes again and points fingers at others for her inadequacies.
You're the biggest joke on this forum with your stupid games and pride in being a jackass.
You make statements then dance around it in every direction when asked about your comment.
Conversationalist???? You have no clue what that means.
Out of context???? Your strong point.
Just plain ole stupid???? Well you are the queen there too!
But I admit, you are the best at playing stupid games that I've ever
come across....but very transparent and obvious. Likely goes to  explaining
why you never got that degree...how was summer school?  Obviously not
very successful either. Enjoy your pathetic narrow minded arrogant stupid life!!!!!
