Kelly A. Rhinesmith RotterdamKelly A. Rhinesmith, 52, died suddenly Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving Mom and family. Kelly was born in Schenectady, and was a graduate of Draper High School and held a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Russell Sage College. She worked as a technical writer for Adirondack Combustion, Duanesburg. Kelly served as past recording secretary of the local Conservative Party Club. For enjoyment she loved spending time with her nieces, nephews and cousins; trap shooting and she was an avid Washington Redskin fan. Kelly was a long time Conservative Party operative and was committed to understanding the democratic process and holding elected officials accountable. Kelly was predeceased by her father, Harold Rhinesmith. She is survived by her mother, Marie Rhinesmith; brother, Hal (Kelly R) Rhinesmith; sister, Lisa (Michael) Zimdars; nephews, Michael L. Zimdars Jr. and his fiancee, Megan Shields and Anthony Zimdars; nieces, Kyra Rhinesmith and Kacey Rhinesmith. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 6 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Thursday 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. She knew public policy and election law better than those who run for office or work in elections. And although her politics were totally opposite mine, I am proud to have been able to call her friend. Gadfly is now flying with the angels. May her name be for a blessing.
