NY is not red because it is a hot place to live....

Quoted Text
If you are among NY's top 1%, then NY state is an expensive place to retire.  However if you are an
average working man, it may not be quite so expensive:
NY retirees catch several breaks. The state does not tax Social Security benefits or public pensions.
There is also an exemption of up to $20,000 for private pensions and out-of-state government pensions.

I pay no NY State tax on my income.  You can probably save more if you retire to a "red state", but then
you'll have to live among the rednecks of Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana!  (I'd rather pay the tax!)

Extremely nice house for those that like that look.

And for sure it is increasing in value.

But McCarthy would suggest that you buy a house in Schenectady because it's cheaper.  Yes, cheaper for the house, then lose money because homes in Schenectady lose value.  Then taxes go up, services are reduced.  Here is the way McCarthy operates.  Crime goes up, cut police department services, but raise taxes to give the money to downtown.  Have a winter of more snow and he decides to cut snow plowing, but raise  your taxes and give the molney to Galesi and all the others downtown.  Have a super cold winter and McCarthy will cut the maintenance of watermains and let them break, then raise your taxes and give the money to downtown.

McCarthy would continue to do what he has been doing.  He hikes taxes on the homeowners, gives the money to his millionaires downtown, people can't pay the taxes, the houses are taken through tax foreclosure and then instead of the city paying on the maintenance of the houses, he fails to have the sidewalks shoveled, but raises taxes to give the money to his buddies downtown.  It's just like his policies and that of the former mayor of BS, have given away everything to downtown, property values fall, and McCarthy claims there is no money to do a citywide reassessment but yet there is money in the city coffers to exempt his wealthy downtown buddies from paying taxes, and then increase taxes on the homeowners to force the homeowners to pay for the demolition of a building owned by billionaire Galesi.

Move out of Schenectady and move out of the county, but also move out of the state as well.

So don't read it.

When people buy a house, they don't think only of the style, they think of where a house is located.

This house is in Altamont, last bought in March 20o4 for about $545,000 and now being offered for $774,000.  We'll see what it sells for, I'll guess between $700,000 and $725,000 ultimately.  Nice return.

Altamont, home of Schenectady's "tax evader" Buicko who bought his 4,500 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house in summer of 2004 shortly after Stratton became the BS mayor, paying about $529,000 and now pays taxes there on an assessed value of about $628,000 in the last reassessment which was done in 2005.  Today Buicko's house, based on the equalization rate, has a market value of $697,000.   Buicko living like a royal courtesy Schenectady city taxpayers via Metroplex and the city leaders.

If I hit the lottery - After taxes, I would take half of it and divide it between the 2 Catholic parishes (both located INSIDE the city limits) that I belong to and regularly attend and support, 1 local Catholic elementary school and 1 Catholic high school out of state.  The other half, i would invest and take a little bit out each year to travel.

You are opposed to any government assistance to let poor people send their children to public schools.  So until you hit the lottery, the kids in Schenectady are stuck going to the one lone school system where teachers are attacked, students start fires, students walk through the school with cell phones in hand and posting how they bully and initiate fights with other students and then post them on social media, where a student brought a grenade to the school on election day a couple years back, etc etc.  But YOU oppose the people's money going to forming a charter school so the parents would have an alternative, and you oppose the peoples money to be given to private or parochial schools.

And it is ONE parish INSIDE the city limits that you avoid going to because you are NEVER seen in there, even if your two mommies have your name on their weekly envelopes and include your name on donations.

The other parish, again, you have proven how uneducated you are because as you are not a homeowners, not a taxpayer, you cannot read a tax map that says the word "Niskayuna."   And DV, the tax map is the OFFICIAL DOCUMENT showing what municipality a property is.  So maybe one square floor tile lies within the city.

Ha ha, if you wont the lottery you STILL would not buy OR rent IN the city.

Guess you have nothing to say about the house that RP posted that has increased so much in value outside of the city and outside even of Schenectady County.  How come home values INSIDE the city are falling MASSIVELY??????   Oh yeah, you won't admit that I am 1,000% correct about that FACT.

You are opposed to any government assistance to let poor people send their children to public schools. Incorrect statement and/or blatant lie. A charter school is NOT a public school and has no accountability to the tax payers.  The second part of your statement is incorrect statement and/or blatant lie.

And it is ONE parish INSIDE the city limits that you avoid going to because you are NEVER seen in there, even if your two mommies have your name on their weekly envelopes and include your name on donations. Completely false and blatant lies.
The parish boundaries as drawn by the diocese include the a huge area of the city - the north end as well as areas of the city between Union Street and Rosa.  One of the two church buildings is ENTIRELY within the city limits as is 3/4 of another building and most of the parking lot. THOSE ARE FACTS

Ha ha, if you wont the lottery you STILL would not buy OR rent IN the city.  YOU don't live in the city.

Guess you have nothing to say about the house that RP posted that has increased so much in value outside of the city and outside even of Schenectady County.  How come home values INSIDE the city are falling MASSIVELY??????   Oh yeah, you won't admit that I am 1,000% correct about that FACT. The topic of this thread is supposed to be a civil discussion of what one would do if one won the lottery.  You are so mentally ill that turn every thread into some hate-filled rant.  You are 1,000% nuts.

I like the view but I'd rather live on a lake.  I have mixed feelings about the house itself.
