Some have argued that Queen Elizabeth's grandfather's death was hastened by injections of morphine and cocaine given by  his doctors acting on orders from Prime Minister Baldwin.  Baldwin preferred that the king die sooner rather than later.  There are different theories as to the political advantages to Baldwin of having King George V out of the picture.  King George V's last words are recorded to be "Go damn you."

WTF does George V have to do with anything?

He didn't die in battle. He got hurt bad when he got thrown from a horse during a troop review in France.

Well for one thing, George V was a King of England and you made the claim that Richard III was the last English king to die in battle.  One could argue that he died in the battle between the political parties in the United Kingdom during the mid 1930's.
Also, I started the thread so I am granting myself the latitude to broaden the topic.
Finally, I don't think that you ever objected to others who hijack threats to launch personal attacks or totally change the subject.  In fact, you have been know to do the latter.

Good Day - and God Save the Queen!

Since when is an assassination the same as dying in battle with a sword/bow/rifle in your hand?

What's there to broaden? I thought this was about Richard III.

The circumstances surrounding her grandfather's (King George V's) death made a tremendous impression on the young Princess (now Queen) Elizabeth.  She has had a life long realization of the importance of and commitment to duty, honor and country.
