I came across this item while reading the news from around the world. It reminded me of "bucket list" places or experiences. Mont Saint-Michel at anytime, but especially at super high-tide, is certainly on my bucket list. What are some of your bucket list places to see?

A supertide turned France's famed Mont Saint-Michel into an island on Saturday and then retreated out of sight, delighting thousands of visitors who came to see the rare phenomenon.
The so-called "tide of the century" actually happens every 18 years. Although the tide rushes in and out along the whole northern French coast, it's especially dramatic at the UNESCO world heritage site, an ancient abbey normally linked to the mainland only by a narrow causeway at high tide.
But the supertide, said to rise at the pace of a horse's gallop, turned the Mont briefly into an island Saturday, while the day's low tide allowed people to walk on the expansive flat seabed.
Among those at the abbey on Saturday was Wilfred James, who drove six hours from central France in time for the morning tide.

"It's been a long time since we've seen Mont Saint-Michel surrounded by the sea. I was born in this region and I never saw it like this," he said.
Tidal specialist Nicolas Pouvreau told France 24 the morning surge was a few centimeters (inches) short of expectations.
An even higher tide was predicted for Saturday night and the abbey was staying open until 10 p.m. to accommodate visitors.
In France's Landes region, a fisherman who was out on the flats lost his footing and was swept away to his death just as the tide started rising again on Saturday, local officials said.

Any in particular? I know that some of the great roadside attractions have been disappearing with increased frequency in recent years.

Start now travel 60 minutes west on rt 20 http://petrifiedcreaturesmuseum.com/ in Richfield Springs, NY. I have been driving past this place since the mid 80's and always wanted to stop and take a look. There is a great little family restaurant and ice cream shop just a little west of there too that I do stop at.
I love taking the "road less traveled" when ever we have the time.
Speaking of oddities, has anyone been to Wood Bull Antiques on Rt 28 outside Milford (3920 NY-28 Milford, NY 13807) a great eclectic mix of everything. We have taken friends and family there just to look around, its like the forgotten dusty closet of a museum.
I love taking the "road less traveled" when ever we have the time.
That is the best way to travel. My brother and I took another road trip late last summer to my out-of-state property. The best part was leaving the interstates and enjoying the endless variety of "roadside America." The "river road" along the Mighty Mississippi River was one of our favorite roads to travel on. So was the "crooked road" in Virginia where Country Music was born. It was just off the "river road" that we discovered an interesting restaurant that served Cajun-Greek food. And the best BBQ joint was a little, "not so spectacular from the outside" joint along the "crooked road." One little town along the "crooked road" has free to the public music jams with great R&B, Gospel, folk and Country music. By the way - none of our stops were pre-planned (except our destination) - we just drove along and stopped when we saw something that interested us. It was one of the best road trips that we had ever taken.

That is a great video of one of the most beautiful places on earth.
One of my ideal trips would be to visit Mont St. Michel than the medieval fortified city of Carcassone and then take the pilgrim's trail to Santiago de Campostella.
