The snowstorm that wasn't, in NYC. I've noticed that governments are seizing any excuse to order the populace around, such as a snowstorm, not an uncommon event in winter in the Northeast, but NYC was basically shut down by the "authorities" over an "historic" storm before they even had three inches accumulation. Now we've had TV weathermen added to the list of unelected "authorities" who get to basically decide when government gets to lock the rest of us up.
Hospital workers who relied on public transportation couldn't get to work; but that was okay, they would just keep the tired workers done with their shifts there, as if they were public property.
This is so politicians won't have the press labeling them as having a "Katrina" I think.

Had this storm turned out as predicted or even worse than predicted, it would not have been just one more NY
snowstorm, it would have been one of the worst in NY History.
Should the 'authorities' wait till everyone is at work and on the roads before closing the city???

I keep hearing how they say this was going to be the storm of the century, what BS, people its NY and its winter. no different from any other year we had in the past when we get 2 or 3 good snow storms. Thank God I wasn't the only one who thought the government was acting like idiots shutting down all travel.  I'm all for warnings but it is up to businesses and the workers to decide what is to dangerous not the government. Funniest part was even with the low snow falls they kept the travel bans in place WTF

No, the "authorities" should have waited until NEVER to "close the city", Box. It's only snow.

Can't predict climate changes in a small geographic area 24 hours in advance, but Al Gore and climatephobes believe the "authorities" can predict climate changes on a global scale 100 years from now. Lol!

If a meteorologist disagreed with the consensus of the other meteorologists that predicted the "storm of the century", he/she would have been mocked as a denier and conspiracy nut.  Because, as we have all just learned in this "historic" storm,, consensus science is ALWAYS right.  And even ifthey are wrong, guys like box will use the lame argument above to defend them.

It's your responsibility as a citizen to listen to authority at all times, even if it is an imposed travel ban(house arrest).  Even if you think the "authorities" are wrong...because you never know...they could be one day right.

All the weather forecasts that I saw before the storm warned that if the storm went East, it would mean less snow, if West, more snow
inland.
As recently as last night, the local forecasts downgraded the storm especially for points West.
I have no problem with our Socialist Weather forecasters.

If storm had moved WEST more than predicted, then complaints would be
failed prediction didn't warn it would be that bad..

If storm had dumped more than predicted then complaints would be
people weren't warned to prepare.

People 40 mi east of NYC and up the coast are all complaining...
THEY GOT HIT WITH A TERRIBLE STORM AND CRIPPLING SNOW, as predicted.

So why complain that we escaped having a bad situation instead of being
grateful we didn't get it? Frankly, keeping snowblower in garage and not
having to use it is fine with me!

Weather forecasting is fine.  Until politicians start using forecasts to restrict travel, and call people that are skeptical of the accuracy of a forcast a "denier".

As been said before....

Can't predict a storm track 12hrs before, can predict temperatures 100 years from now.
