Never would tell anyone where they should shop.  In days past, Christians shop owners closed on Sundays, Jewish shop owners on Saturdays and Muslims on Fridays.  Everyone was happy -- keeping their respective sabbaths. Sabbath is a good thing -- on whatever day your faith sets aside as its sabbath day. Everyone needs to rest on the seventh day and spend time with their families and loved ones.

Unless you don't practice any faith at all...
If you do, you can choose when or if you practice sabbath...by keeping your business closed or not working/shopping... But since this is secular run government, you have no right to dictate sabbath to anyone else.

...Then we can all go to Christian churches and sit in our pews and listen to the pastors give sermons honoring the sacrifice of the troops overseas -- All in Jesus' name of course(Prince of Peace--Ironic isn't it?)  I always wondered if Jesus honored the Roman soldiers "sacrifice" for keeping the Roman Empire "free"...

Listening to what Cicero "always wondered" says a lot about Cicero!

Cicero is a "ME".  He has no concept of "WE" except when the "WE" can contribute to Cicero's "ME"!

Even people who don't practice any faith at all have to obey the laws passed by the local, state and federal government and EVERY American has the right to put forward suggestions laws.  Now all we need is a majority approval of a legislative body (and an executive to sign it into law if its a state or federal law) to enact the "sabbath day law."

If the law ever passes...and its highly doubtful, it would be struck down on OBVIOUS first amendment grounds by the first judge that hears it.
People who practice no faith only have to follows laws that are constitutional... this one would not be.

Box, you just posted yesterday that you vote for state and federal representatives to represent YOUR interests.  Has something changed overnight?

"MY" interests are affordable Health Care for all Americans.  Expanded elementary, secondary and college
education for all Americans.  Jobs for all Americans.  Etc etc etc.  Those are MY interests.
Your interests?  ME ME ME!

Ahhh...yer back to voting for everybody again.  Sounds like your interests are everybodies interest.  Like affordable health care for all even if it means your plan now cost more and you lose your doctor.  Or $500 million of "our" money to Solyndra that eventually went bankrupt.  Or bombing Libya costing millions of "our" money to turn a country into a chaotic mess.  Or turning otherwise responsible people into criminals by passing the Safe Act, but allowing government agents to be exempt from the same gun restrictions.  Yes...you are just looking out for everybodies best interest, not at all engineering society to meet your personal political views.

You don't believe that should be up to the store owners?

A store owner can't even decide what wage and benefits they can offer,  the federal government dictating their hours of operation is nothing out of the ordinary in the "free" U. S. of A.  As you can see, DVOR has no problem legislating it.  America is full of authoritarians.

And you wonder why people think religious people are bat $hit insane when they wish to force their views onto others, here is a prime example. If you are religious like I am keep your beliefs to yourself, practice what you preach but never force others into it, your ideas make me sick as a American. I just went on about militant atheist on the other topic box started, you are no different then those fckn wackjobs >

Some see the glass half full of sh*t, others see it half empty of sh*t...Box does not see sh*t in the glass, he is told by his party leaders that it is the liquid brown medicine that will cure all of society's ills.  And box drinks his glass full of sh*t and try's convincing everybody else to drink it with him.
