It's good to see and know that Derek Jeter left last nite with a walk off single that won the Yankee game ...and that his

humility and leadership was above reproach .....

It would seem to me that last nite could be a memory to hold and to talk about ......

Derek truly was a class act on and off the field....and this man is a role model for the future in sports and in life...

GOD BLESS DEREK JETER and his parents for truly instilling the values he has today.....

THANK YOU DETEK JETER.

I'm a Mets fan, but if I was choosing a team, Jeter would be my first pick.. Besides his skill set, his leadership qualities are off the chart.

I watched the game last night and loved the ending...what I didn't love was self-serving, douchenozzle YES network broadcaster Michael Kay trying to interject himself on a event that didn't need it... SHUT UP MICHAEL!!!

thank you for your input 55......BUT....couldn't you just leave out the negativity and just give this whole event a heads up???

that's why I don't post a lot of what is positive and "good feeling" news

Obviously you don't follow Jeter's off the field life.  Not sure screwing every beautiful girl around the country and giving them signed Derek Jeter memorabilia as parting gifts for their services is a role model.

I included something that if it wasn't done, would have made the event even better....Compare how Kay injected himself into the event to what Vin Scully did (or did not do) at the end of Game 6 of the '86 World Series.... Point blank, Michael Kay can't carry Vin Scully's scorecard.

An exaggeration... and in most cases, these "girls" were already successful and didn't need the parting gifts.

where's your proof about one night stands?? Or is that just conjecture out of your azz?
Based on what I have read, he has had a slew of girlfriends to be sure, and as far as I know, hasn't been caught up in any paternity suits.

If he is to held up as a role model at all, it should be for his professional conduct and that's it..
In general, people shouldn't need personal life role models...

Not judging the guy...everybody has their own definition of classy.  I'm not a Jeter Worshipper.  I could care less.  None of these stories could be true for all I know.

Tiger Woods was a class act for some time too.  Until his PR people lost control of his public image.  Then his reputation went sour.

ot so classy, captain!
Yankees star Derek Jeter, one of New York’s most eligible hunks since his split with longtime gal pal Minka Kelly, is bedding a bevy of beauties in his Trump World Tower bachelor pad — and then coldly sending them home alone with gift baskets of autographed memorabilia.
The Yankees captain’s wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kiss-offs came to light when he mistakenly pulled the stunt twice on the same woman — forgetting she had been an earlier conquest, a pal told The Post.
“Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to take them home the next day. Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing signed Jeter memorabilia, usually a signed baseball,” the friend dished.
“This summer, he ended up hooking up with a girl who he had hooked up with once before, but Jeter seemed to have forgotten about the first time and gave her the same identical parting gift, a gift basket with a signed Derek Jeter baseball,” the pal said.
“He basically gave her the same gift twice because he’d forgotten hooking up with her the first time!”
Jeter, who fiercely guards his privacy to protect his All-American image and multimillion-dollar marketability, split with the gorgeous actress Kelly this summer and has been playing the field ever since.
The veteran shortstop usually shies away from the limelight, preferring stay-at-home parties with a tight circle of trusted friends.
“He normally doesn’t go out with girls. He will have them come to his house. He’ll have cocktail parties. His friends invite girls they think he’ll be interested in. He’s very shy,” another friend explained.
“He’ll occasionally take girls to a restaurant. He has a couple of restaurants that he goes to that aren’t trendy,” the friend said.
“He goes to Nino’s in New York. He used to go to Mustang Grill on the Upper East Side. I know he’s been dating multiple girls. He likes a hole in the wall, or he likes a place that his friends own. He’s very cautious. He’ll only go out on off-nights,” the friend said.
Afterward, Jeter sneaks the beauties home for some heavy hitting.
“The girls go through the back-door entrance in the Trump World Tower to avoid the paparazzi,” the pal said. “He broke up with Minka in the summer and is definitely over her. He is playing the field.”
And while the parting gift may seem cold, signed Jeter memorabilia sell like hotcakes on the Internet, with an autographed baseball fetching hundreds and even thousands of dollars.
Neither the Yankees nor Jeter’s reps immediately returned messages for comment.

Nope, his life doesn't affect me.  I don't believe these reports either, just know their out there.  Do you believe the reports joebxr?  Are they lies?  Or is Jeter still your hero? I never met Derek Jeter, so I would never start a thread idolizing him.  But I will have fun commenting on it.  LOL

He will not be in the active line up in remaining games, and may only be listed for 1 or 2 as pinch hitter.
Schedule is what it is....doesn't get driven by Jeter's retirement.  Organization and Jeter have technically
ended his career last night in Yankee Stadium, where he was last official listed on the active player roster.

I think he said he is done playing shortstop, but will be a DH for the Boston games as he feels he owes it to the fans that paid the money for the "last game/series" tickets
