While the mainstream media continues to report that Robin Williams committed suicide, the truth is a very different story. New evidence shows that the beloved actor may have died in an autoerotic asphyxiation accident.
Wikipedia defines autoerotic asphyxiation as “the intentional restriction of oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal,” and up to 1000 people die doing it every year.
If Robin Williams had been found dead in the midst of a sexual act, it would have tarnished his legacy as a family-friendly American icon. This would have a devastating impact on his estate, giving his ample motive to make his death look like a suicide.
The mysteries of autoerotic asphyxiation had definitely been on Williams’ mind in the last few years. According to Roman Catholic Imperialist, in 2009 the actor starred in a film called World’s Greatest Dad, in which he plays the father of a teenager who is obsessed with autoerotic asphyxiation. When his son dies in an asphyxiation accident, Williams’ character is forced to cover it up and make it look like a suicide.
Ironically, that could be exactly what Williams’ wife, Susan Schneider, is doing now…
The unusual manner that Williams asphyxiated himself is what is pointing investigators towards an autoerotic explanation. Instead of hanging himself, the way most asphyxiation victims do, Williams was found sitting in a chair with a belt around his neck. The other side of the belt was wedged inside a closet door.
Williams would not be the first celebrity to die in an autoerotic asphyxiation accident. Just a few years ago, David Carradine was found in a Bangkok hotel room after an apparent sex accident. Carradine was found with ropes around his neck in a similar position as Williams. According to ABC News, Carradine also used the closet to sexually asphyxiate himself with the ropes.
The Hollywood bigwigs will probably never let us find out for sure whether or not Williams died of autoerotic asphyxiation, but the evidence is definitely pointing in that direction. Unfortunately, life seems to be imitating art as Williams life has turned into one of his final films, World’s Greatest Dad.
