All in return for the handouts from the taxpayer and a billionaire landlord that has his taxes paid by the financially struggling homeowners in the city under threat of them having their homes seized if they don't pay the billionaire's taxes.
DV won't address that. In return for all the tax handouts, an employer is shedding another 10% of it's workforce for the second year in a row.
And WHAT do the homeowners in the neighborhoods get in return for paying such high taxes (including paying the property taxes of the downtown millionaires and billionaires as well as their new or renovated buildings?
Well, what do the people get in return????? DV REFUSES to EVER address those FACTS
Next week is coming. Get ready for the news of the final assessment roll which will prove ONCE AGAIN a reduction in the city's tax base as a result of the tax money given to downtown.
Then of course there will be additional reduction to the tax base resulting from people suing the city in small claims.
Then of course, we know how a mix of homeowners and commercial property owners are suing the city -- AND WINNING THEIR LAWSUITS -- because the city won't spend the money to do a reassessment. The city won't do a reassessment because that will prove massive failure by the city dem cleadership, particularly when houses are reduced in value to $50,000 and the annual tax bill will exceed $6,000, it will be so embarrassing. Secondly the city dems don't want to spend money on anything that benefits the taxpayers, they are spending the taxpayers money to benefit downtown and only downtown!
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
I didn't say that Golub was poorly run. I said that it is an internal operations issue -- I didn't say nor will I say anything beyond.
They cut 160 high paying jobs out of the local economy in two years. I would estimate that on average, each job cut at $75k. That's about $12 million out of the local economy. That's certainly $12 million of business out of their stores, since I don't see them being loyal Price Chopper customers. Not to mention, a large part of their hourly workers have been converted to part-time.
They are in a death spiral. I wouldn't be surprised if the start selling off stores next.
As they shed these management level employees and continue to hire hourly part-time, the surrounding home values will continue to fall, since more and more people will not be able to afford the prices and taxes.
BTW...I said they were poorly run. Since they can't compete.
And AGAIN...............they sucked money from the taxpayers/METROPLEX/GILLEN, and they STILL can't make it!!! Their prices are higher than their competition!!! They are laying people off!!! And in the meantime the Golub's are getting richer and richer!!
What's the return on the taxpayer's investment? NOTHING! ZERO!!
I could care less what a private business does UNTIL they start using MY TAX MONEY!!!
BUSINESSES BEWARE........................... Everything the METROPLEX/GILLEN touches....FAILS eventually!!!
And ain't it funny.....they came out with their 'layoff' statement minutes after they laid everyone off. WHY? So they could spin their story before the laid off employees could actually say why and what really happened.
To those who where laid off......everything happens for a reason.....and there IS life after Golub!

An acquaintance of ours worked for PC until this person was told that they had to take a $1.00/hr cut in pay!!! Actually the entire dept was told the same thing!!!TRUTH!!! This person QUIT and started their own business. One that competes with PC.
Trust me..........there is story after story after personal story!!
As far as the latest 80 that were laid off....you can bet that these 80 AND their families will no longer be Price Chopper customers!!!
And again...........I don't give a rat's a$$ what a private company does with their money....UNTIL.....MY tax dollar becomes their money too!!
