Straw man - straw man - straw man...What's Oliver North and John McCain have to do with Obama's decision on a prisoner swap?

I wonder if Cicero even knows what a Straw Man is?  I've explained it to him... I gave him a link
which explains it... but he still seems in the dark.

At any rate, if Cicero thinks my post was a "Straw man", he should contact Jon Terbush
at The Week, since they are all his words, not mine.

LMAO @ cissy's Straw Man Claim!

What's an elephant holding a sign have to do with Obama's decision to do a prisoner swap with the government the USG was supposed to dispose of 13 years ago?

If you have to ask, it's beyond my ability to explain it to you.
The entire concept of "support our troops" is foreign to your way of life.  I doubt you'd ever get it.

You may be right...It's more of a red herring.

Quoted Text
A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic.

You know what the great thing about this thread is...

EVERYONE 'gets it' except Boxy.

He's the only one dancing the 'partisan spin'.

This is the best quote of the week....

"'Barack Obama is really the president Richard Nixon always wanted to be." ---- Law Professor Jonathan Turley

"Approval ratings go up and down for various reasons... An example is the high post 911 support for
GWB even though he could be said to be responsible for the event." --- Box A Rox '9/11 Truther'

Melania is a bimbo... she is there to look at, not to listen to. --- Box A Rox and his 'War on Women'

My spin?  An American serviceman supposedly in poor health,  was freed from captivity.
The price of his freedom is that a few enemy will be released from Gitmo early.
Sounds like a fair bargain to me.
I don't see any spin in that.

On Wednesday, Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer expressed his support for the
Obama administration's decision to negotiate Bowe Bergdahl's freedom.

Speaking on "Special Report," Krauthammer told Fox News host Bret Baier that Bergdahl should
face an investigation over allegations that the soldier left his post in Afghanistan on the
night he went missing. However, he insisted that the White House did the right thing by bringing him home first.

"Look, had the choice been mine, I would have made that same choice," Krauthammer said.
"It's a difficult decision and I would not attack those who would have done otherwise."--

Krauthammer said that the United States, along with other Western countries, "always comes
out on the short end" in hostage swaps. He included Israel in this, pointing to when the
country gave up 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in return for one sergeant.

"The reason we put a value on the individual human life the way that the ones at the other
end of the table don't," Krauthammer said. "That's why we always end up with unequal swaps."

Krauthammer supports Obama - at least Obama has the neocon support.

What an Orwellian statement.  We put value on individual life?  Thousands died disposing the Taliban, now the government negotiates with the people thousands died to remove from power?  What's the value on the thousands of lives?  What a waste of human life.

What is the Afghan mission again?

Right now the Afghan mission is to undo the Bush War and return the country to the Afghans.
But this has nothing to do with you.  You didn't vote for Bushy and you didn't vote for Obama,
you had "other priorities".

Oh...Bush again...

Is "undo" even a mission?  When you command troops, is undo a clearly stated mission?

Obviously removing the Taliban from power wasn't the mission, since that's the governing body the White House is negotiating with.

You're right, I had other priorities.  I spent time with my family instead of voting for a choice between 2 warmongers.

Poor cicero.  He only had 2 choices to vote for... I wonder if he worked for a third or fourth party to
offer some other choice.
For a guy who doesn't vote, he sure makes a lot of noise about other peoples choices to run this
country.

I sure do.

Hey, democracy is a fraud(especially national elections in a nation of 300 million).  I can't help that you truly believe your vote means something and gives you some sense of control.

Box, 2016 is right around the corner.  Get ready for the most important election in American history(that's the mantra every presidential election).  Maybe a hope-ier and change-ier candidate will run for you to latch on to.

Red herring.

What does McCain have to do with the prisoner swap?  Congress wasn't even given notice per the law.

I give this post 5 red herrings.lol

The WaPo article is about McCain's flip flopping on the Bergdahl prisoner swap.  First he was for it
then he was against it... you know GOP Politics demand he's against anything that may be construed
as a plus for Obama.
