You said it will save 1/3, so where is that money going if not back to the taxpayers, you are saying it will get pissed away somewhere else which is probably true. We both know the rates will continue to climb either way and the service will be less, why would you pay the same for a crappier service. It would be like going to a 5 star restaurant one day and they cook and serve you your food, excellent quality and service and no complaints, the next day you go but now they want you to cook your meal and bring it back to your own table, you get the bill and it is the same as yesterday, you wouldn't be happy about the quality and service then.

Actually, I said that the cost of delivering to cluster boxes is 1/3rd of the cost of To The Door Delivery -- so the savings would would 2/3rds.

I don't believe that delivery to cluster boxes is "crappier service."  We still have the best postal service in the world with postal rates that are lower than any other country.

In another post of yours, you mentioned the mandate of the postal service to prefund pensions and the toll that took on the postal services financial situation.  That is all the more reason to go to delivering to cluster boxes.  Fewer postal carriers would be needed if deliveries were made to cluster boxes.  Still fewer would be needed if we went from 6 day a week deliveries to 5 day a week deliveries.  Fewer carriers = lower labor costs and lower future pension costs.

Finally, I still am very much in favor of adopting the "Swiss System" to check (via internet) what mail is coming through the post office to me and being able to refuse delivery of "junk mail", mail from politicians and any other mail that I don't want delivered to me.

Shows how clueless YOU are on the topic.
The internet access argument that you raise is just plain ignorant.

Excuse me but YOU are the one who is clueless.   The FACT is, the TRUTH is that not all people have internet, not all people can afford it.  You have your two nannies with a high income to pay for your internet for you.   (yes, DV, one alone has a taxpayer paid pension that very close to the threshhold of he STAR enhanced---public information by LAW, DV; then top if it off with Social Security for two people and the other's pension, well, you see that big household income, you have them to support you.)

And DV, most elderly people are getting buy on small Soc Sec and don't even have pensions of $10,000 a year, and in Schenectady city they CANNOT AFFORD internet!!!!!!!!

Most elderly qualifiy for some public assistance, and most elderly in their 70's would NEVER build a new house to live in and demolish the old, they simply cannot afford it.

So dream on thinking that most people have internet and can get information online.   Since you are not an adult living like a normal man, independent and self supporting, you have no clue what life is like for normal people, and especially when your dem buddies in Schenetady make the poor pay for the taxes of the downtown millionaires and the taxpayers get NO RETURN whatsoever, get out of your nannies' house, try to live on your own and see what it's like.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
