The Peters Projection Map. We are used to viewing the world through a Mercator projection map which is basically a map to fit a globe. If viewed as their actual size and location, our view of the world changes dramatically.  The size and scale of a Mercator map is not accurate.  See video below for an explanation. This view of our earth is really nothing new. It is based on "Lambert's Cylindrical Equal-Area projection" (c. 1770's) from the 18th century which influenced "Gall's Orthographic Projection" (c. 1850's). |

CONNECT THE DOTS AS TO WHY THE GLOBE LOOKS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD....I'm sure you're smart enough to figure that out. ask yourself WHY? but that might be too much work for you or is it too early in the day? |

The "South Up Map" is also interesting. Most commonly used in Australia, it does give a different way at looking at our planet. We need to look at things from different perspectives to broaden our way of thinking. |
