NOTE TO BUMBLER:
The Yahoo article and video that you linked to, was a good piece on an interesting topic and
was well done.

and the comments were varied and interesting
disorder exists, no one denies it
Government doesn't do enough for these people, no denying this
Treatment of returning veterans and other servicemen by the civilian
population (i.e. the haters) does not help these servicemen, it just compounds the issue.

Box, instead of calling out straw man arguments, knock them over.  It should be pretty easy to justify why letters to the editors written by political operatives and submitted under the names of "average people" carry anymore weight than a comment written in an online comment section.

Would you rather treat cancer or prevent cancer?  Would you rather treat psychological disorders or prevent them?  I would rather prevent them.  Not joining the military would be the first logical step in prevention.

Not only does the government not do enough to treat them, they actively put them in a situation knowing they are going to develop these disorders.

Call me a hater all you want.  But identifying the cause of the cancer how the solution of how to prevent it is not hating.

Really...they are all going to develop these disorders??? How stupid a statement can you make.
Oh, and your HATRED isn't a contributing factor to it either, right?
Live in our shoes and then you might understand...until then it's all BS that you spew

I never knew that.

Spin it ....that's what Cissy's good at and you are trying to imitate.
Anti-war is not the topic or in anyway referenced.
Racist applies to Cissy outside of the military hatred and is a direct reference to his racist comments.

from Bumbler's link:
Quoted Text
Marcus Aurelius
I served with the U.S. Army 4th I.D., 2/8th Inf., Republic of Vietnam from 1969-1970 as an Infantryman. Although I never developed P.T.S.D., my squad leader developed severe P.T.S.D.. He was a brave patriotic soldier who was wounded several times in action. He told me, however, that his severe anxiety, severe depression, and severe withdrawal resulted NOT from his combat exposure in Vietnam but from the very demeaning, insulting, and discriminatory behavior that he was subject to upon his return to the U.S.A. from Vietnam. He died from complications associated from his P.T.S.D. within 15 years from his return from Vietnam.

Um... Cissy??? What "Letters to the editor?"
I didn't see any.

What Bumbler posted was a link to a legitimate (and very inciteful) article on the topic of healing
warriors.
Below there is room for comments.
Most LETTERS TO THE EDITOR require that you sign your name to your work.
These are just ramblings (likely some true others a hoax) written at the bottom of the Yahoo
piece.
I would accept a legitimate LETTER TO THE EDITOR, as I would an OPINION PIECE from a
journalist... they both are 'attributed' opinion views on a topic.

Maybe Cicero has used straw men so often that he's forgotten what they are...
A Straw Man is a misstatement of your opponents views.
You do know that right Cicero???

Cicero posts:
Box, instead of calling out straw man arguments, knock them over.
That is the trap of a Straw Man, that you just invited me to 'fall into'.
The purpose of a Straw Man is to entice your opponent into defending the Straw Man
instead of defending his actual views.

What you did above is to Misstate My Views,
then invite me to Defend YOUR misstatement!

This isn't third grade Cicero... Really!

Hey Joe...
Did L4LIFE ever tell ya the story about how he single handedly ended the Vietnam War???
I think he actually believes it!

Pro-war and anti-war and the propaganda glorifying those who served/died is exactly what is being discussed.

Your side believes that their is no bigger sacrifice a person can make for his country than to serve the military machine.

The sane side believes the US war machine is intrinsically evil and serves no useful purpose except to create millions of enemies so the military can retain their protector status.

Killing and/or dying is not heroic.

It is shameful.

The military continues to send people knowing full well a very large portion will develop PTSD or commit suicide.

War has never made peace.

War makes war.

You call wars victories, but our enemies have grown steadily to the point whereby all Americans are subject to massive loss of freedoms and rights and are watched carefully for signs of not supporting the war machine.

Then entire country has become a terrified paranoid nation giving up their right in order to be protected by the government.

You post propaganda to validate the war machine and give honor to the participants that take part.

I say that every person killed by the US military creates more hatred of us.

Peace does not come from killing.

NO, it's what the haters have turned this thread into and not the topic of the thread!
Your side believes that their is no bigger sacrifice a person can make for his country than to serve the military machine.
That is YOUR belief and YOUR attempt at putting words into our mouths. You will make that assumption
regardless, I know that. But you do not know facts when it comes to what "my side" believes.

The sane side believes the US war machine is intrinsically evil and serves no useful purpose except to create millions of enemies so the military can retain their protector status.
So Veterans and service men and women are the insane side. Only a true hater would
think those thoughts and make such absurd and ignorant accusations.

Killing and/or dying is not heroic.
So because we are Veterans, you ASSUME we don't believe the same!
Pretty arrogant and ignorant assumption.

Show me where I have EVER called war a victory. No such words have been used.
Then entire country has become a terrified paranoid nation giving up their right in order to be protected by the government.

You post propaganda to validate the war machine and give honor to the participants that take part.
Recognizing Military for their service is propaganda to spitters like you...to
the normal people it is exactly what it is intended as...recognizing and offering thanks.

I say that every person killed by the US military creates more hatred of us.
I say that every ignorant hater that bashes servicemen and women is just as guilty
of abusing these people as the Government is for ignoring their needs.

Peace does not come from killing.

While we're at it, explain how we "WON" the war in Vietnam.
Show me proof that we "WON" the war or that the words "THE U.S. WON THE WAR IN VIETNAM"
have been used to describe the ending of the Vietnam Conflict!
