was it really our government or private lawsuits that caused the changes?
Originally seatbelts were an option that you paid extra for in a car. "In 1966, the Highway Safety Act and the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act were passed, still the most substantial legislation to date regarding automotive industry standards. The legislation authorized the federal government to set and regulate motor vehicle and highway standards, and also created the National Highway Safety Bureau, which later became the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)."

What happened to your RON PAUL FREEDOM??? All of a sudden you want to BAN GUNS??? You want to take away my freedom to purchase a gun of my choosing... Kinda like the assault weapon ban huh!
I don't want to ban this gun, I think it is a interesting idea. The problem is what the government wants, NJ wants ALL guns smart guns after the 1st one is sold anywhere in the country. That is my only problem with it not the gun itself. If this is such a good idea why isn't our military using these on their rifles so insurgents aren't using weapons captured during battle? I'll tell you why because they wouldn't trust it, one more thing to go wrong on something that isn't broken. If there is a market for it put it out, don't force people to buy 1 type of gun.

Less than a week after a killing spree left six people dead in a California college town, the House of Representatives voted Thursday to invest an additional $19.5 million in the federal system of background checks for gun purchases.
The measure was passed on a broad bipartisan vote of 260 to 145 as an amendment to a larger criminal justice appropriations bill. It was the first step taken by the current Congress to address gun violence.
Expert weighs in on gun control and mental health The measure will help strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Checks System (NICS), which checks prospective gun buyers against a database for felony convictions, certain mental illnesses, and other markers that are supposed to prevent people from owning firearms.

At least five American men have shot off their penises since 2010 (No one ever accused GunHuggers of being very smart, but they do profess to be Gun Safe)

~ "I keep hearing about these responsible gun owners who are so very careful with their dangerous weapons, so I can only conclude that this guy did it on purpose!
A man in Macon, Georgia accidentally shot himself in the penis while attempting to holster his gun last week.
According to WMAZ Channel 13, the man was parked at a gas station and was attempting to put away the .45 caliber pistol when it discharged, striking him in the groin. The man immediately drove to a friend’s house.

no one cares if a ganstas loses their 'balls'.....so it's probably not on the reports and counted....no one counts a gangsta because they are from a criminal syndicate....we only count law abiding ooopsies.......

Huh! Henry sees himself and his fellow GunHuggers differently than the GunHugger portrayed in his photo. To most Americans... Henry... Militia... OathCreapers... Sovereign Citizens... White Supremacist... Gangstas... they are all the same.

Pennsylvania GunHugger Falls Asleep Watching Gun Porn On YouTube, Discharges Weapon Into Neighboring Apartment
Quoted Text
According to LehighValleyLive.com, 37 year old Wind Gap, Pennsylvania resident Greg Philip Winnick was holding his Rebel Arms AR-15 when he fell asleep. He awoke when the gun discharged. Sydney and Tabitha Merrick, who live next door to Winnick, told police that a loud noise awakened them, and they discovered a hole in the wall of the bedroom that abuts Winnick’s apartment. They also found damage to the ceiling, and another hole above a light switch. Police say the bullet traveled just above the mattress where the Merricks were sleeping. There were also two children, ages 1 and 2, in the Merrick’s apartment at the time.
Just another "Responsible GunHugger"! What a bunch of @ssholes!

Winnick told police that he had been awake for over 24 hours when the incident occurred. For some reason, this latest example of a “responsible gun owner” decided that he was alert enough to sit at his computer with his loaded gun across his lap. And what was Winnick doing at the computer? He told police he had installed a new trigger on his AR-15, and he was watching YouTube videos about it when he fell asleep. Police records say that Winnick “vaguely” remembers attaching a magazine to the weapon, but he doesn’t remember putting a round in the chamber.
Winnick was charged with aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person. He was released on $50,000 bail.
