I have 6 medium sized maple trees in my back yard.  Most years the leaves change colors and drop
from the trees in Oct thru Nov.  By Thanksgiving, the trees are usually almost bare of leaves.  This
year for some reason, the leaves turned colors as usual, but there were still half left on the tree
at Thanksgiving and today there are still leaves falling.  After this rain/freezing rain mix last night,
my backyard snow is covered with leaves and my trees still have lots of brown leaves clinging
to the branches.

Has anyone else noticed this problem this year???

I'll have to check... I have a big a$$ maple across the street from me, I just haven't bothered to notice.. We have no leave shedding trees on our property, but we are down wind (prevailing NW wind) from people that do, so we get THEIR leaves...I haven't noticed a huge drop off and seemed to bag as many leaves as I normally do...

It's either global warming or Bush's fault.

I'm sure either of these you can use as a satisfactory answer.

Since about 2008, I have noticed some trees where the leaves never changed color at all, before they fell. My parents said they had never seen that before, as long as they could remember. It does appear to be climate change related. I have also recently noticed a proliferation of red oak seedlings, and it turns out that they are normally a more southern tree, but we aren't likely to get a lot of pretty red oaks, because there is also a disease going around.

Do you want to borrow my Gieger Counter?

It's probably just low level fallout from Japan.
