Firing a host (or show) is up to the network involved. If they promote bigots as their network values then there is no law against it (see Rush Limbaugh). In most cases, they are free to say just about anything they want to say... And the network is free to fire just about anyone they want to fire. |

Try to keep up Bucky... I've posted that I think it's up to the network if The Duck Fcuker is fired or signed up for a 10 year contract. He's a bigot... so is Druggy Rush... And in America, Networks have the right to broadcast Bigotry! |

Martin Bashir made scripted remarks on a "news" program. He is purportedly a journalist. No comparison. Maybe that's the problem today. People see no distinction between "news" and entertainment. I wonder what the reaction would be if an entertainer was fired from a show for making off-the-air remarks against corporate greed, or war, or whatever. An opinion that a certain sector like. |

Martin Bashir apologised on November 18, stating among other things: "My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics." On December 2, Bashir was suspended by the network and then resigned two days later. He issued a statement upon his resignation that said, "I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers.
Bashir was not reporting NEWS, he was presenting a "POLITICAL COMMENTARY". There's a huge difference. |

No, there is not. He was presenting commentary on a news program, it was scripted, and the network approved it. He is supposed to be a JOURNALIST. You are blinded by your hatred of Sarah Palin. I guess it is okay to be a 'hater', if you hate the people you are told to hate. |
