Q: Did Sen. Dianne Feinstein say all military veterans are mentally ill and should not be allowed to own guns? A: No. She said veterans should not be exempt from her proposed assault weapons ban, citing post-traumatic stress disorder as a concern. She did not say all veterans suffer from PTSD or that all veterans should not own guns.
She did say that all veteran are banned from owning the weapons on the ban list, while exempting retired law enforcement from the banned weapons. She didn't ban veterans with PTSD, she banned ALL veterans. Presuming all vets suffer from PTSD and presuming all retired law enforcement do not.
I'm amazed how compliant the two war veterans are when a law if proposed to infringe on their 2nd Amendment rights, while sitting by and watching retired law enforcement get special rights.

For many of the disorders of childhood and adolescence, some form of interference with social behaviour and relationships is included amongst the diagnostic criteria. At first sight this appears to go against the general ICD rule that interference with the performance of social roles should not be used as defining characteristics of disorders or diseases. But a close examination of the disturbances that are being classified in F8 and F9 shows that social criteria are needed because of the more complicated and interactive nature of the subject matter. Her argument was to NOT exempt all veterans because the FEW who are incapacitated, as if those people she did exempt(retired law enforcement) do not suffer from the same mental incapacitation. She categorically decided that all those in law enforcement, whether active or retired, are in perfect mental health, and therefor exempt from the assault weapons ban. She didn't have that same faith in the veterans, she was concerned about their mental health.
Hey, if you are fine with a politician calling you potentially dangerous possessing certain weapons, while saying ALL law enforcement are perfectly safe using them, that's on you.
