You can't win on one line? Brian McGarry with the REP line only crushed DEM stooge Matt Martin. Where is A-Jello and his running dogs on this? And more good news!
Tom DiMezza (R-Town of Amsterdam) is running against A-Jello next year. A-Jello will have a shorter political career that Mayor McCheese. DEMS lost 3 seats on the County
Board and in town the REPS won every contested race. Ditto in Glenville. Ditto the Hilltowns. The REPS will take back the town and County in 2015. People have had enough of
the DEM insane taxes and lies about job creation.

My feeling on why "Duanesburg gets more than half of its voters to polls" is because they wanted to show their support to Mr. McGarry...not because of the Duanesburg supervisor race.  Hello  Daily Gazette---are you totally oblivious?

GOP makes county gains
Dems maintain big majority, but Republicans up to 2 seats
By Lauren Stanforth
Published 10:33 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2013

The county GOP declared victory last week after a Republican and Conservative won election to the Schenectady County Legislature — the first time in two years that more than one Republican will serve on that body.

It won't be a powerful voting block; Democrats still outnumber Republicans by at least 4-to-1. But Republican County Legislator James Buhrmaster, who is also Schenectady County's GOP chairman, said at least he won't be alone anymore when protesting Democratic projects, like the new county nursing home slated to be completed in 2014.

The last time three Republicans served on the legislature was in 2009. Buhrmaster has served alone since Republican Robert Farley did not seek re-election in 2011.

"I think there will be a lot more dialogue now," Buhrmaster said Sunday.

Republican Brian McGarry, a sixth-grade teacher who founded the No New Tax Party in Rotterdam in 2009, easily beat a man Democrats had appointed to fill Assemblyman and Democrat Angelo Santabarbara's spot, former Rotterdam Town Board member Matthew Martin. McGarry also bested Martin by about 850 votes despite the fact that Martin had four party lines on the ballot.

"No one was more surprised than me," said McGarry about his solid win last Tuesday. He said his victory could be attributed to his name being recognizable after unsuccessfully running for Rotterdam town supervisor twice. But recent raises Rotterdam town officials gave employees did not help Democrats, McGarry said; two Republicans also wrested seats away from incumbents in that town board race.

Meanwhile, Conservative and political newcomer Grant Socha took second in a three-seat race for the legislature's District 3. Buhrmaster said there was no doubt that the Socha name is a powerful one in Glenville and Scotia, which likely led to Grant Socha's success at the polls. The Sochas own property on Route 50, and Grant Socha is vice president of Socha Management Inc.

Conservatives in Schenectady County often caucus with Democrats, as the party is heavily supported by the police unions. But Buhrmaster said Socha pledged to vote with himself and McGarry.

And the race for District 3's third spot has not been decided as 89 votes separate incumbent Democrat Cathy Gatta and Republican and Glenville Town Board member Alan Boulant. Democratic incumbent Martin Finn placed fifth in that district, and was not re-elected. The two parties are scheduled to appear in state Supreme Court Tuesday to begin the absentee ballot counting process in that race, Buhrmaster said.

Two other Conservatives, Holly Vellano and Randy Pascarella, were also elected Tuesday. But Vellano often caucuses with Democrats and Pascarella has said he will strive to be independent from all parties, Buhrmaster said.

There is no Democratic machine in Rotterdam and there won't be one.  In the long run, it will be good to get more Republicans on the town board and county legislature.  Single party rule can lead to isolation (from the electorate and their needs), laziness and arrogance.

2013 Conservative Party Legislative Priorities

The Conservative Party is committed to helping the taxpayers residing in New York State and firmly believes that tax reform and relief is needed immediately and must include the following measures:
a. Hold total state spending growth at/or (preferably) below the inflation rate;
b. Further reduction in the personal income tax on all New Yorkers;
c. Reduce the corporate income tax on all businesses in New York, to stimulate more investment and job creation;
d. Amend the school property tax and real property tax cap to allow district wide vote by residents to
override the budget with a two-thirds majority vote;
e. No increase in fees or “hidden” taxes;
f. End and repeal unfunded mandates;
g. We support a “flat tax” where every household in New York State pays the same percentage of their income thereby making it possible to eliminate nuisance taxes.
h. Support collection of cigarette taxes sold to non-Indians by Indian Reservations.
i. Rejection of a “congestion pricing plan”;
j. Full repeal the MTA tax and no reinstatement of the “Commuter Tax”;
k. Elimination of state income tax on dividend earnings;
l. Eliminate the New York State Estate Tax;
m. Private business pensions should have the same tax exemption as state pensions;
n. Local governments should be required to consolidate services and where possible, to eliminate duplication of services;
o. Opposition to the unconstitutional levy of state and local sales taxes on out-of-state
internet purchases.

We staunchly reject any effort to reinforce or expand current abortion laws. We support parental notification and/or consent prior to the performance of an abortion on an unmarried minor and we support New York passing a ban on the procedure known as Partial Birth Abortion, the elimination of Medicaid funding of abortions and support Informed Consent.

We support legislation that upholds the Second Amendment rights granted to citizens in good standing and demand that those who use illegal guns or who use deadly weaponns to terrorize patrons in public places (Schools, Malls, Movie Theaters for example) must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We support the restoration of the death penalty.

We support law enforcement agencies efforts utilizing all effective law enforcement techniques, such as profiling, or stop and frisk, that keeps citizens safe.

We reject any effort to legalize mind-altering drugs and natural herbs for medicinal or recreational purposes.

Hydrofracking, with proper environmental safeguards, should be permitted in the state.

We are opposed to taxpayer financing of political campaigns, sovereign entities supporting candidates and efforts to establish early voting in New York State.

We support efforts that result in apolitical Boards of Elections.

Reform of the Medicaid System must include limiting Medicaid to necessary coverage reflective of private health insurance coverage, thus providing relief to local governments.

We continue to oppose Casino Gambling as a means to enhance revenues.

We support repeal of the “Wicks Law” mandates on public building construction and support New York being a right to work state.

We are opposed to the issuance of New York State drivers’ licenses and any form of government identification, and/or any other New York State licenses to illegal aliens and we support the fingerprinting of all applicants for government benefits.

We support the encouragement of educational choice programs through establishment of a system of educational tax credits or deductions and/or vouchers in payment to parents or school districts for expenses incurred in elementary or secondary education, and we support expanding the number of Charter Schools in New York State.

We support first passage of a Constitutional Amendment establishing Initiative and Referendum and Recall as well as term limits for the Governor, Lt. Governor, Comptroller, Attorney General, and Members of the Senate and Assembly.

We support Tort Reform that restores common sense to our system of civil litigation while assuring the protection and consideration of the personal rights of the injured individual and their families.

We believe that welfare benefits keep people dependent on government and should be rolled back.

The Conservative Party staunchly believes that all human cloning must be banned and that stem-cell research specifically prohibits the use of progenitor cells and/or pluripotent cells and is limited to adult stem cells and fetal cord blood research.

We support legislation that allows families recovery for the wrongful death of their unborn child due to negligence, malpractice, or other wrongful acts. We support enactment of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which would punish an assault on an unborn child.

We support a constitutional amendment that will define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. We also believe that any attempt to amend the Human Rights Law to include “transgender” language as a special class of citizens should be rejected.

We support legislation to end parole for all convicted felons and legislation that requires every criminal convicted of a crime to give a DNA sample and legislation that requires the civil commitment of sexual predators.

We support the repeal of the statute of limitations for rape, sexual assault, and other serious violent felony offenses for all offenders.

We support amending the law so those who commit a third independent misdemeanor offense are subject to a felony conviction.

We support privatization of state owned and/or operated enterprises that compete with privately owned businesses with revenues from asset sales earmarked for tax reduction or retirement of State Bonds.

We reject any legislation that uses public monies for the development of private enterprises, i.e, convention centers and sports stadiums.

We oppose the unreasonable and massive take over by state and local governments, or Indian Nations, of private property and open space, which will prevent private enterprise from being in the position of economically developing such lands to generate revenue.

We support legislation to adopt English, as 31 states have done already, as New York’s official language.

We are opposed to any legislation that mandates health insurance coverage.
