Well the way the rumor was told to me, if Walmart were to move to the Mall site, the Altamont Ave. building would be abandoned, thus leaving another abandoned in town. And once again this is all hearsay and basically unsubstantiated. As to would people protest this, who knows.

I'm an enigma, even to myself.

If they close Altamont ave....the folks who live in that area will breath a sigh of relief. Altamont ave would 'clean up'. Less traffic and less riff-raff.

IF...and I do mean IF 'the beast' has to land somewhere in ROTTENdam....the mall is the best area. Folks from Amsterdam, duanesburg, princetown, esperence, cobleskill and of course ROTTENdam will frequent that location. Don't know how the folks on Gorden Rd will like it tho.

Again....all rumor!

It would be a bonus if the Walmart was a super center as it would also draw a lot of that riff-raff away from the Hannaford on Altamont Ave.

I haven't heard any...but Rotterdam Square is a classic formula of an 80's style mall in distress...
One floor
Economy stores as anchors
Numerous empty storefronts
depleted food court...

I knew it was over for the original Mohawk mall when McDonalds moved out because they couldn't make it.
I guess time will tell..

True. We were talking to a guy that works at the pizza joint at that mall. We asked if it was busy there. He said no. He said that they opened thurs night and it was 'somewhat' busy until 3 a.m.
Friday, Sat and Sun were slow.

Someone we know went to macy's a couple of weeks ago and asked the sales person if it was true that walmart bought the mall. They said that they didn't hear anything about it. so who knows!

Well one business that is definitely leaving is the bank. They'll be relocating down the road. Which then leads me to wonder how much of inconvenience this might be for the business's still there.

Saratoga coin is gone too.

And the food court has been reduced to a sitting area!

Go to any sports team board, or most interest boards for that matter... most of the posts are based on rumors and conjecture...
Why the f%ck do you care anyway? You don't live in town...unless you post here just to troll...based on your online time, it looks like it's about all you do...

I was wondering how far a "RUMOR" would carry this board.  Treated as a "RUMOR" it should be
conjecture unless there is any more to the story from a reliable source.

With the number of posters on this board who believe in "AREA 51", Obama is a Kenyan, The Bermuda
triangle, 9/11 Cover-Up, The Moon Landings Were Faked & Secret Societies Control the World...
It's no wonder this story has such legs!

super center at the mall??????......easy riff raff can walk up the road to create havoc and all sorts of

damage.....it's not just about Walmart and how they sell for less......but even the cashiers are not

very friendly.....the Glenville store has become a riff raff ....welfare....wic station.....and there are

lines that are so long that a few times...left carts are common and walk outs in disgust....

we don't need the Walmart here....put it somewhere else in Rotterdam......like really rural...

I think between the princetown/duanesburg line would be great!!! They are all in favor of one coming to Campbell rd. Wonder how they'd like it in their backyard?
