I'm sorry that was Joe but I assume you are also for them am I right, don't you want people to see that they served and are special enough to have license plates that give them special privileges.

Another bonus is you get watched specifically close now by our government as potential terrorist, another privilege us regular citizens don't get but again they deserve it for their actions. Not everyone can kill or drop bombs, that is what makes you guys so special and separates your kind from us. Thank you yet again box for your service, without you I might of been speaking Vietnamese right now.

I'm afraid that you are wrong about only Veterans being the killers of our society.  Just look around
your neighborhood at all the killings.  Very few are done by veterans and although a few veterans
do have bomb experience, the Boston Bombings prove that experience is not required.

A 'veterans' license plate gives no special privilege.
Handicap plates do give parking preference but they are not for veterans, they are for the handicapped
whether veteran or not.

Hey Henry....yup. it's me with the plates. Also USMC sticker and VIETNAM VETERAN in back window,
along with 9/11 Never Forget, and POW stickers...YUP, AND PROUD OF IT TOO!
You want to hate, feel free...puts yo into the same category as CISSYBOY!
You want custom license plates too...go here
http://www.dmv.ny.gov/cplates.htm
KNOCK YOURSELF OUT!!!!!
Personally there are much bigger things to worry about, complain
about and do something about than the small "EARNED" perks that
vetereans get. You don't like it, tough, but it's your perogative.
PS - Your comments about VN show you don't have a clue what really
went on over there, and I'm not going to bother trying to educate you,
becuase it's a waste of time, just like trying to educate CISSYBOY!

No I truly get it now veterans deserve special treatment, what you guys did is harder then any other job on the planet, so for that you get special treatment. You guys are obviously better then us regular peons who worked to pay for your meals, clothing, shelter for all those years, we should be the grateful ones I'm guessing. Without your service in Nam who knows what type of country we would have today, we might of been a communists country.

Not to worry special plates are being made today just for that special case

Like I said, HATE ALL YOU WANT....thought you were a better person....guess I was
very wrong! Viet Nam had nothing to do with the US becoming communist, but
you already know that, so why the continued stupid statements? It ended in the 70's
so why can't you get over it...you and Cissyboy! Listening to you two is like listening to
the guys down south still bitching about the Civil War!!!!

My sarcasm was trying to make a point and I think you understand what that is. All I hear on this board with me included is that of EQUAL rights, I hear you say it, I heard box say it, I heard Cicero say it, but it seems now you and box want a higher class of citizen because you belong to that small group. Somehow to you what you did deserves special treatment, so how is that equal? The argument that your job was hard doesn't cut it because chances are it was voluntary, those who were drafted is a different case for me. I'm not hating at all, it seems me and Cicero are the only ones here who are being consistent with what we preach.

Did the Rich do anything to EARN the Bush Tax Cuts?
Did Veterans do anything to EARN Veterans Benefits?
Congress passed both legislation... Henry has no problem with Tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense
of everyone else...
but
For benefits EARNED by military service, Henry has a problem.

Henry... If you don't like the laws governing Veterans, then change the laws.  You know VOTE AGAINST
VETERANS BENEFITS.  See how much support you get from the American people.

Equality is that you and Cissy both had the same opportunities I did to do what I did and chose not to,  Had you
chosen to serve as I did, then you would have the same rights afforded me (which is not why I enlisted anyway).
I didn't join knowing I would have benefits after my service, or get special licenses or plates or anything else.
Recruiters did not emphasize those things back then. I honestly didn't know about any of the perks until I was
discharged. I've never used a VA hospital or the medical benefits. I did use the mortgage benefit.

Let me point out one other thing....Military people that do not make it a career are behind the curve with those
that don't serve.  I entered the job market 3 years later than those that didn't serve, so I was 3 years behind
in the career curve from someone like yourself that was already into your career for 3 years....calculate what
that is worth and then let's talk "equal"! And let's talk about entering the job market after Viet Nam and
the economy...I was 3 years behind, so always the junior guy (even though I outperformed those that had been
there longer), so I was laid off 4 times during that period....that was a cost I paid because I served. I'm not
angry about it, but where was the equality?

When it comes to the private sector I don't care what special treatment you receive, I stated that clearly on the 1st and 2nd page. When it comes to the public sector then it creates a special class or higher class of people. It's almost similar to that of the old days where whites were held as a higher level then minorities and women. You might not want to see it that way but that is exactly what is being done, Senders made some excellent points on this topic. So I will just ask you flat out, do you believe you are better person or higher class then say a steelworker or waitress.

NO !

Then if you truly believe that then you should not take any special public treatment any other taxpaying worker would not get. If you can get private help then I will be all for it and wouldn't mind helping out if I could. I take this position with all groups not just vets, that my friend is equal and being consistent.

I repeat...you, Cissyboy, the steelworker and the waiter/waitress all had the same option to follow
the path I did and chose not to....that my friend is the equality.

The steelworker is protected by Unions and my choice was white collar and no union....
it was my choice. They have benefits I don't and I don't begrudge them that.
Waiter/Waitress earns tips for doing their job...I don't get tips or anything
extra for doing a good job...I don't begrudge them that.  That's just life.

Can you honestly say you receive nothing more than everyone else in society because of
who you are or what you do? Think about it and you might surprise yourself....
everyone gets something that others don't, and not because they feel they are superior or better!
