Why Govt Matters:
(For the board Anti Govt Goons)

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Video #1 is real...
Video #2 is fiction.

(Some people confuse the two)

but human nature is the same

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Have you been watching the news or the governments fear mongering, its more real then you think. Truth is the shutdown didn't effect hardly nobody, it is the government which is trying to convince people "why they need us".

Really???

Yup really, most of that crap is bloated agencies that we don't need, they were luxuries not necessities. All the main functions of government are running and funded. This goes into my past comments on this board why nobody should rely on the government, if they created it they can take it away. All the sob stories we will hear are just those that put their trust and responsibilities into the hands of others, I have no sympathy for them.

There are private businesses... government contractors who have had the rug pulled out from under
them.  They are laying off workers or losing income and so are their employees.

Given a case of Listeria,  Salmonella or Botulism, caused by missing food inspection during the GOP shutdown,
and the anti govt crybabies would suddenly understand the function of today's govt.

Henry = "Please bring back The FDA!  PLEASE!"

Cicero = "Oh God... I'll pay any tax... just make it stop!"

Its in a businesses best interest to put out a safe product and I bet 99.9% of them will not change their safety procedures because of the FDA, by the way the FDA is still operating As far as the private contractors goes they should know it isn't a guaranteed job for life when doing a job for the government. When I did work for the city as a private contractor I knew that it could end at any time and sure enough it did. As I said to Joe you would have to be nuts to rely on them.

When you take a sip of milk, just remember that the milk is safe BECAUSE of govt regulations.  In times past
the quality of the milk depended on how diligent the farmer happened to be that day.  Milk regularly
contained cow $hit... and without food inspectors it would contain cow $hit today.  It would be
pasteurized cow $hit, but cow $hit nonetheless.

I put my trust into the person selling their product not the government, are you afraid to buy lemonade from a children's lemonade stand because the government didn't oversee the way it was made?

For a time when the country of Hungary was experience political strife, the govt there was in chaos and
many of the FDA type regulations were not followed.
The result... The USA was importing Paprika from Hungary that was actually about 10% Paprika and
90% dried red paint and fillers.

The 'free market' would have eventually adjusted to this inferior product but only after hundreds of
thousands of Americans would have consumed the product.

The FDA found the deception early on and kept all those anti govt haters from eating red paint.  Pity!

Wow one case from overseas in the middle of a crisis Fact is food safety has been continuing to become more safer over the years and that was even before the FDA was around. Even if the product is safe on many occasions you still have to put your trust into the person preparing it be it a chef or butcher or your wife, that trust has to come without the government watching over it.
