There is a steady supply from southern states by people who make their living buying guns then
transporting them to Chicago.

There Cicero.  Now that I've answered your question, here is the solution:

Lol, so the southern states where gun laws are more lax, don't shoot up their own at a rate as high as Chicago and other gun free cities?  They instead smuggle the guns north to people that want them so they can kill their neighbors.

But it's the gun and not the customer that is the problem.  Sound familiar?  War on drugs.  Demonize the drug dealer, victimize the drug user.  Box uses the same formula.  If it wasn't for those southern gun huggers selling guns to those gangsters in Chicago, the gangsters would no longer be violent murderers.

The people pass laws through their legislatures, what a joke that is. If that were the case then every major bill should be voted on by we the people on election day. Did you vote for your legislatures pay raises? How about their exemption to Obamacare, did you vote for that. Lawmakers only take care of themselves and the taxpayers who pay the bill don't get a say until the lawmaker is up for re-election. Come on 2014.

Yes I did.  Even if the person that I voted for lost the election.  I had my voice in the proceedings.

What makes you say that Chicago is a 'gun free city'???  Chicago has taken steps to help keep violence
down but they are an island in the middle of a sea of guns.  Gun Free??? Of course not.

To answer your question:
Top 10 states murder rate:
Louisiana     11.2
Mississippi     8.0
New Mexico     7.5
Maryland     6.8
South Carolina     6.8
Alabama     6.3
Michigan     6.2
Arizona     6.2
Missouri     6.1
Tennessee 5.8

Idaho     2.3
Oregon 2.1
Maine     2.0
Utah     1.9
Iowa     1.5
Minnesota 1
Rhode Island 1.3
Vermont     1.3
New Hampshire 1.3
Hawaii 1.2

Yea... the South (with lax gun laws) murder each other at a rate 10 times higher than other states.

if there is no violence then there are no humans so there must be no guns

Cissy for some reason likes to pick on Chicago... Wonder why?
Chicago's murder rate doesn't even make it into the top 10: (2011)

2 Detroit,
3 St. Louis,
4 Newark
5 Baltimore,
6 Oakland,

Mass shooting in Chicago latest in city's gun violence epidemic

By Dean Reynolds
(CBS News) CHICAGO - The late-night shooting in Chicago that wounded 13 people Thursday was just one of a number of shootings overnight in a city that has been fighting an epidemic of gun violence.

Neighbors had gathered in a city park Thursday to watch a late night basketball game, when gunfire sent them running for their lives. Police say suspected gang members opened fire at a park late last night with a semiautomatic rifle.

Chicago park shooting leaves 13 wounded, including 3-year-old boy
While miraculously no one died, 13 people were wounded -- including three-year-old Deonta Howard, who was shot in the head but is expected to recover.

"He doing fine. He healthy. He breathing on his own," said Kailynn Jordan, the boy's aunt. "There's nothing wrong with him. The bullet didn't hit his brain. It just hit his cheek."

Children on bikes, scooters or just riding in cars with their parents have been shot this year. Eighteen of them -- 15 years old or younger -- were killed. And three of them were under six.

Others have had to witness bloodshed up close. Deonta's uncle was shot to death in Chicago just two weeks ago.

"Yeah, people are becoming kind of used to the violence because it's happened so much and unexpectedly," said Angelo Boyd, an anti-violence activist. "It's not gettting better in the community because nobody is not standing up and sticking together, standing for what's right.

The Southwest Side neighborhood has been under siege from heavily armed gangs for years.

"Illegal guns. Illegal guns. Illegal guns drive violence," said Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy. "And military type weapons like the one we believe to have been used in this shooting belong on a battlefield, not on a street or a corner or a park."

With more cops on the street, using detailed block-by-block intelligence, Chicago's rate of gun violence is actually down 23 percent this year.

Last June, we talked to McCarthy about that.

"My expectation is while there is going to be violence, we will be reducing it," McCarthy said in an interview with CBS News in June. "We're making progress. That's why I say all the time, progress not victory."

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel has promised that those responsible for the shooting in the park will be brought to justice. But late news on Friday was that two more people had been shot, including a 15-year-old boy who died.

Despite what has happened over the past 24 hours, Chicago is making progress against gun violence. There have been 305 homicides so far this year. At this pace, there would be 395 by year's end, which would be the fewest in nearly 50 years.

something isn't right in water in America...or maybe it's the air.....whatever,,,,,but removing the guns doesn't remove human violence

EVER....

I know you're gonna give some stat that will PROJECT that it would be 'better' and one of those 'at least' stats to prove it...

when people in a suburbia/urbania have to sit around waiting for jobs, waiting in line for food stamps, waiting in line for
unemployment watching all kinds of hollywood pomps/politicians/CEOs etc have their rich lives displayed all over the media....they
tend to get 'irritated'.....and those in the line of fire are those in anyone's local limelight....so with or without guns humans get
agitated when being treated like rats in a cage.....oh yes, civilization is grand and ALWAYS right.....

oh I know everyone is going to say those on welfare don't do anything, that's true...but why bother trying because even when
you do and you follow the rules they taught in school and become a viable human cog in society, you still get fu(ked by the
value stamped on you based on your cast.....

I say no welfare....give people land to work and they will have to spend too much time working the land to feed/clothe and water
themselves to worry about shooting anyone to gain some false valued fiat or even those things that the fiat is used to purchase
and shooting other people over stupid things......

those who control the land control the masses
those who control the food control the masses
those who control the fiat control the masses
get it?
