When I first heard of it, I would have agreed with you, but I'm not so sure now. If they can get more outlets to compete with CNN, FOXSNOOZE, MSNBC, etc, I now think they may have a chance of being the "other" in a field of the "same".
They are rumored to be presenting "long form journalism" which is rare on all other networks except for maybe NPR and PBS NewsHour. It will be interesting to see if they can overcome the prejudice against them from the Iraq Invasion.
I do remember watching a report of how they showed the Iraq invasion from a 'different perspective'. When CNN ABC NBC FOXSNOOZE etc were all promoting the success of the war, they were the only broadcast who remained impartial. An example: When the Iraqi citizens were attempting to topple the bronze statue of Saddam, they reported the story but asked "can the Iraqi citizens pull down the statue with out US help?" while all other networks were in the bleachers cheering for the US tanks to pull down the statue.
