Iroquois Rod and gun club always has someone shooting trap or sighting in their guns but they are over by Route 7 and the Thruway. I hear shots from that gun club and I am over near Guilderland Avenue and the Thruway. Sound carries quite a distance.

I heard something about a week ago and I said, "I hope that's a firework". It is surprising how sound can carry on a still night, and we've had a lot of days recently where it became very calm weather at night.

it.s not coming from the gun club.....it's really close....I say indoors when this is happening...so much for a "safe act".

besides....Cicero thinks this would not have probable cause to call and report it to the police.....LOL

Report everything to the police.  Have them pick up toilet paper on their way to the "emergency" too?

It's difficult, even if I had called the police I wouldn't have been able to pinpoint where the sound came from, and if they respond to the general area they still can't do anything unless they see something. You have to hope that someone closer to the action calls it in. You know, you might give the policea call anyhow, tell them what's been going on, and see if they have any suggestions for you. It doesn't hurt to file a report.
The city of Troy invested in high-tech equipment to help pinpoint gunshots, but it didn't work and they had to scrap it.
