I couldn't even imagine being a landlord and walking into this
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
Not all but I will put money on it the majority does, I have worked at literally thousands of city properties over the years and the stuff you see in this video is nothing. I've seen some horrors in my experiences with many of these people, the destruction they can cause in just weeks would amaze you. One property they knocked a hole through one room into the other to make a door, no they never framed it they just knocked one big hole through the wall. Another property the people got evicted so for revenge they plugged up the sinks and turned the water on, oh yeah they also left the windows open and turned the heat off in the dead of winter, the apartment turned into a ice skating rink. The whole apartment was destroyed, it needed new everything, floors, sheetrock, trim, cabinets, I mean everything. These people have no respect because it isn't theirs, many don't deserve to live in a tent let alone a furnished apartment or house.

The landlord is more fortunate than the tenant. Always. Anybody receiving any kind of government benefit is to be excused for any behavior that falls outside of the law. She might have needed the $53 she was supposed to pay in rent for toilet paper.
I would give this house a 4 out of 10 on the filth scale.
I have seen people living in far worse conditions in Schenectady many times.
Piles of garbage stack in the rooms with just enough room to walk through them.
Cat shitt, dog crap, food just thrown on the floor.
No furnace, just portable heaters. 10% usable plumbing.
Crack houses with sheetrock walls cut out so they can crawl room to room without standing up.
All kinds of strangers sleeping on the floors every night.
Naked people, crazy people, hardcore criminals that would do literally anything for cash.
Guns, knives, clubs, tasers. Guards watching the doors.
Walls lined with sheet metal to stop bullets, the outside covered in bullet holes.
People think the boarded up houses are empty, but many are used regularly by drug users and thieves.
Sadly I have seen all these things because a family member got caught up in all of it and was addicted to crack for almost a decade.
Luckily he got out of it and detoxed himself while living in a church.
We could not get him into any rehab.
He then went back to school, has an excellent job making $70,000 a year and owns a giant home in the suburbs.
Here is a little more information that may change the way people think these things happen.
He was renovating properties he bought at the Schenectady tax auctions, for resale and betting heavy on sporting events, football, basketball, whatever. He got into the bookie for close to 10 grand. Neighborhood drug dealers from NYC approached him and offered him $100 a day to use his partially restored home as a drug spot. He was happy to take the money. He soon started selling it himself to make more money and soon left reality to live a totally new life in crackland.
Nothing mattered, family, friends, acquaintances, all just potential victims of scams, stealing and lies.
What a relief when it was finally over. It was hell for many years worrying and trying to help someone who would ask for help, but it was always just another scam to get something from you.
Do we know this video is legit? I mean, couldn't it be before and after pictures run in reverse order? I don't know why someone would do that, but I don't know why a lot of people do what they do. I know someone who rents out apartments in lower income neighborhoods in a nearby city, she won't take section eight. She is not a slumlord, she keeps the places in decent repair, so that's not the reason.
I read the scrolling credits at the end, and he talked about his commitment to his obligation with the bank based on his religious teachings. I'm not sure if he's Christian, but didn't Jesus preach against usury? I would think the trials and tribulations he is experiencing would be why Jesus preached to his followers not to practice in usury.

i would have walked away!! not sayin' it's right or wrong.....but that's what i woulda done.
would have NEVER rented to section 8....he already said the homes lost almost all of their value and that crime/murder was rampant.....what did he think he was getting when he rented to these folks?

thanks democraps
if you dream abt being a landlord you are insane. that is nothing compared to what they CAN do to you with the cover and tacit support of government
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
I'm sure it is, I seen places just like this many of times its and its more common then you may think. Ask anyone who ever worked in low income housing or city owned properties about what they see on a daily basis, you might be surprised. One job I did the resident cut himself and wiped blood all over the walls, he spelled out "HIV" and "AIDS" in blood throughout the whole apartment, my brother in law who just started working with us almost walked off the job when he seen that place. Then you have to worry about sticking yourself on syringes and broken crack pipes the people hide in stupid places like the top of door frames and such.

I know that the experiences portrayed do happen, I know that for a fact, from people I know who've had rental property vandalized that way, it's just that this particular piece seems kind of fake to me. It somehow doesn't look like a house that has recently been occupied. Throwing paint around seems to be a popular method of destruction. I know two different property owners in Schenectady who had that happen.
I don't doubt the authenticity of that video for a split second.
Years ago, I had a friend that worked for the Albany Housing Authority, preparing apartments for new tenants.
He showed me an apartment at 4 Lincoln Square (the high rises on Morton Ave., bordering the park), and it was beautiful. It was an apartment that none of us would mind living in had it been in a better neighborhood.
The apartment was spacious, bright, and had truly gorgeous views of the city, and the river. It had large rooms, brand new hardwood floors, new paint, new outlets and switches, brand new name brand appliances, a large brand new bathroom, and was well insulated against noise between rooms, and other apartments.
Then he showed me an identical apartment 2 floors down. HOLY CRAP! After only 6 months of occupancy, it pretty much needed to be gutted.
Among the damages were: Extensive stains, gouges, and burns in the hardwood floors. At least 5 pretty large holes in the walls. 2 broken windows. Broken doors, locks, and frames between rooms. They used one kitchen wall as a backboard when tossing garbage, and it was caked with rotted food.
The oven door was broken, one of the stove grates was missing, and the clock was cracked. The refrigerator was DISGUSTING, was missing a shelf, and had a loose door.
The bathroom, which obviously had not been cleaned the entire time they lived there, had a cracked sink, a broken toilet seat, and a cracked tank cover.
I could go on. It was readily apparent that absolutely nothing had been cleaned the entire time they lived there, and the intense stink was there to punctuate that fact.
Was there garbage strewn about? Yupper, that's a roger. It took well over a dozen garbage bags to get rid of all that crap, which included your body weight in dirty diapers.
They even made sure they took all the light bulbs (including fridge, and stove) on their way out.
Has it ever occurred to them that they live in a ghetto because they make sure to take the ghetto with them wherever they go? That THEY CREATED that ghetto, and will continue to create that same ghetto NO MATTER WHERE they live?
Feel free to complain about living in the ghetto though. You deserve a medal for enduring such horrid living conditions.
