If these Second Amendment-purists really think that guns make places safer, if they really think that guns are an important check on government and safeguard of liberty, then why do so many of them keep their workplace—the U.S. Capitol—free of firearms?

"If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it's less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it's in the tens of thousands."

Most of those killed were in Chicago, where gun control is very strict.

So Americans have been buying guns at record rates and the national murder rate has actually gone down?
It isn't 'one gun per person'. More than a third of Americans say they or someone in their household owns a gun. The Pew Research and GSS surveys both have found declining gun-ownership rates over time. In 1973, for example, when the GSS first asked about gun ownership, 49% reported having a gun or revolver in their home or garage.

The US government has killed a thousand more innocent people around the world than all the criminals on Earth put together.
Please unsubscribe from your outrage of the month club, and take a look at who is doing the most killings of the innocent.
Legal gun owners is probably about 2,000th on the list of most innocent lives taken.
Governments, military and police would be at the top.
Criminals with guns would probably be around 1,700th.
And lets not forget why most criminals use guns, because the government escalated the war on drugs to life imprisonment, and the police now make every encounter an "obey or die if your resist enough", situation.
All of these deaths are based on those who are outraged, demanding more and more laws, death and violence to ease their outrage.

Thanks again, your outrage is noted.
But once again the outrage is directed away from those who take the most innocent lives, and you use it to demand more laws against legal gun owners.
Governments, police and veterans are the 3 top offenders of taking lives.
The fact remains that the majority of non-government or police gun violence and death, is from active or former military persons who commit suicide.
Which is in 100's of thousands range.
But hey, feel free to continue with your agenda based, selective outrage.
Your list of people that outrage you are uncountable.

I am concerned about people who can't stop being outraged.
You propagate and increase hatred, fear and mistrust.
States with stricter gun control laws have fewer deaths from gun-related violence.

Firearm deaths are significantly lower in states with stricter gun control legislation.[/img]

In most cases, the Mother Jones staff found, the killers had obtained their weapons legally.
