The federal indictments were announced Thursday in New York. One of the suspects, Aleksander Kalinin, was also accused in the same indictment of installing malicious software on a Nasdaq computer. Authorities say the breach did not affect the trading of securities. Kalinin was among five men charged in a second, larger computer hacking prosecution announced Thursday in New Jersey. Authorities say that Kalinin and Nikolay Nasenkov provided account information stolen from Citibank and PNC Bank to co-conspirators who encrypted blank ATM cards and withdrew $4.2 million in 2006 and 2007. Both men are at large. |
