Cicero's neighbor and a coworker tell Cicero:
"MOVE CISSY, THERE IS AN OUT OF CONTROL CITY BUS HEADING RIGHT FOR YOU"
Of course, Cissy won't believe them... he filters out the information, considers the bias and laughs at them... just as the Out Of Control City Bus crushes Cissy into road kill!
(come to think of it... that IS kinda funny! )
It's funny, I've never once had a coworker or friend tell me that. If they do, it's after the crash. At that point, the information is useless to me. But who is the information useful for? Politicians who want more money for public transportation and can exploit the tragedy to convince city residents that the government needs more money to maintain buses to protect them from a future bus crash. Then they will loop that story 1000 times for weeks, trying to convince me that I need to pay more taxes for bus safety. And god forbid a child dies in the bus accident, then anybody that opposes higher taxes for promises of bus safety hate children. It's the same formula over and over. |
