The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral

Older Americans winners under ObamaCare!

Quoted Text
For many older Americans who lost jobs during the recession, the quest for health
care has been one obstacle after another. They're unwanted by employers, rejected by insurers,
struggling to cover rising medical costs and praying to reach Medicare age before a health crisis.

These luckless people, most in their 50s and 60s, have emerged this month as early winners under
the nation's new health insurance system. Along with their peers who are self-employed or whose
jobs do not offer insurance, they have been signing up for coverage in large numbers, submitting
new-patient forms at doctor's offices and filling prescriptions at pharmacies.  (Daily Gazette)

They are largely signing up for Medicaid, and will owe the government the money it spends on them from their estate. Wonderful.

Many are people who lost their jobs in the Bush Economic Meltdown and have yet to recover their
jobs that had health coverage.
America stands alone in the developed world as the only country to abandon it's citizens who lack
health coverage, even though they are working full time.
Thanks to ObamaCare, the USA is beginning to catch up to the rest.

Curious, so what do you propose as alternate?
Don't you think that if they have an estate that the money should be used to pay back what the taxpayers paid
for their medical coverage? Or are you saying it should be a freebie???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....older Americans just learned their value....and the government will decide if you are too old for
certain medical 'services'......I see it everyday

here's your cake....now eat it

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

If they saved enough money to even have an estate, what happened to all the money they paid in taxes over that time to pay for the "safety net"?  What is the point of paying into the safety net that was supposedly to protect your health and prevent you from going broke, if you are just going to go broke anyways?  Isn't the government double dipping?  What you are saying is, once you sign up for Medicaid, everything you ever worked for belongs to the government.

I guess the solution is, if you know you are going onto Medicaid...RUN AS MUCH DEBT AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN AND CREATE AN NEGATIVE ESTATE!

I've found that with Senders posts, you will always know LESS when you're done reading, than when
you began.

Scary to think that Senders is in the 'health care field'!

Try your negative estate and see how far that gets you.
If government didn't go after estate, you would complain that your tax dollars were used
and no attempt to recover them....so in this case you b**ch about the opposite......
like I've said repeatedly, if it's BLACK then you insist it is DARK GREY....if
it's DARK GREY, you will argue that it's BLACK!!!  CISSY GAMES AT THEIR BEST!!!!

Suggest you do some research before you make these statements.

Quoted Text
Estate Recovery and Liens
State Medicaid programs must recover certain Medicaid benefits paid on behalf of a Medicaid enrollee. For individuals age 55 or older, states are required to seek recovery of payments from the individual's estate for nursing facility services, home and community-based services, and related hospital and prescription drug services. States have the option to recover payments for all other Medicaid services provided to these individuals, except Medicare cost-sharing paid on behalf of Medicare Savings Program beneficiaries.

Under certain conditions, money remaining in a trust after a Medicaid enrollee has passed away may be used to reimburse Medicaid. States may not recover from the estate of a deceased Medicaid enrollee who is survived by a spouse, child under age 21, or blind or disabled child of any age. States are also required to establish procedures for waiving estate recovery when recovery would cause an undue hardship.

States may impose liens for Medicaid benefits incorrectly paid pursuant to a court judgment. States may also impose liens on real property during the lifetime of a Medicaid enrollee who is permanently institutionalized, except when one of the following individuals resides in the home: the spouse, child under age 21, blind or disabled child of any age, or sibling who has an equity interest in the home. The states must remove the lien when the Medicaid enrollee is discharged from the facility and returns home.

Joebox, I am just pointing out that this is what is happening, with these older jobless Americans. People without money were eligible for Medicaid before Obamacare. If you are over 50, they recover the money. Some people under Obamacare are getting large subsidies, some people aren't and are paying more, some people can receive Medicaid and owe nothing, some will end up paying for it. The position these jobless folks are in, isn't any different than it was before the PPACA.

Why would I complain that MY tax dollars were used and no attempt to recover them?  What about the medicaid recipient?  Isn't he/she just using the benefit their tax dollars paid into their entire lives?

The economy shits the bed, and now people that were once middle class are considered poor and qualify for medicaid, BUT, prior to the economy shitting the bed, and they lost their job and 50% of their 401K - they were able to pay off their house by the age of 50.  Now all that equity you built up in the house over their lifetime belongs to the state.  So after being a good responsible citizen and doing what they were told, paying your taxes for all these social "safety nets, and working hard to pay your home mortgage off, you will still die broke and everything goes back to the bankers and government.

GREAT SYSTEM

Yah, and what?  That's been stated and re-stated in this thread...no dispute.
You are the one challenging it.
