Limbaugh is considering the move because Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey has blamed the company's advertising losses on Limbaugh's controversial remarks about Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student. In Feb. 2012, Limbaugh referred to Fluke as "a slut" because she had called on congress to mandate insurance coverage of birth control. The subsequent controversy over those remarks resulted in a significant advertising boycott.
The true extent of Limbaugh's effect on Cumulus's advertising revenue is not known. In an August 2012 earnings call, Dickey said Cumulus's top three stations had lost $5.5 million, in part because of the boycott. In a March 2013 earnings call, Dickey said the company's talk radio side had "been challenged... due to some of the issues that happened a year ago."

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is, Rush is a hypocrite? Sure he is, but aren't we all, especially if we had to fill that many hours on the air. I don't like allot of what Rush has said, but he has throughout his career been a huge success ratings wise, and has made his employers a ton of money in sponsorship's and endorsements. My guess is there is an upcoming contract negotiation coming and people are positioning themselves to get the best deal possible and aren't afraid to throw mud to do it.
.they are all paid big bucks for pure entertainment...just like Stewart and Maher! They all have great writers! So other than reading this thread for mere entertainment.....the non-sheople don't give a crap!! there is obviously no point to this thread.

48 of Top 50 Advertisers Have Asked Not To be Aired on Limbaugh and Hannity shows.
Quoted Text
Limbaugh is in total denial. He is completely responsible for at least part of the decline in ad revenue. His statements about Sandra Fluke have triggered an ongoing boycott that has cost Cumulus and Limbaugh millions of dollars. When 48 of a network’s top 50 advertisers don’t want their ads on his show, Limbaugh is losing money.
The speculation is that Clear Channel is waiting to dive in and scoop up Rush after his Cumulus contract expires, but they would wise to look at the situation carefully before they paid Limbaugh the kind of money that he will certainly demand. Clear Channel will not only be buying Limbaugh, but also all of his baggage, and the boycott too.
A positive unintended consequence of the Limbaugh boycott is that it is hitting Sean Hannity too. The goal of these advertiser boycotts has always been to hold them accountable for where they choose to spend their ad dollars. The Limbaugh boycott is sending a message to all of right wing talk radio that there will be financial consequences for their extremist speech.
