Alleged police impersonator arrested

Home invasion robbery drug-related, police say

August 15, 2011|By Peter Hermann, The Baltimore Sun

A 24-year-old Halethorpe man has been charged in connection with one of three recent home-invasion robberies in which armed men identified themselves as police officers and broke into homes in three different parts of the city, bound the occupants and stole money.

The arrest of Lamel Pierce is linked to the first in the series of break-ins, which occurred June 27 in the 1500 block of Medford Road in Northeast Baltimore. Police are seeking two other suspects in that case.

Five men dressed as officers kidnapped and assaulted a man who they believe was a drug dealer during a home invasion.

One of the men, Mr. Torrez Seymore, 25, Baltimore, MD, was sentenced Thursday for possessing with the intent to distribute marijuana obtained by robbery and discharging a firearm in connection with that robbery.

“Homes being raided by criminals dressed in law enforcement gear, carrying guns and yelling police is extremely unsettling,” United States Attorney Mrs. Sally Quillian Yates said. “This case effectively dismantled this robbery crew.”

The following details were obtained from federal court records:

The incident happened on Jan. 14, 2010 when Mr. Seymore and four others dressed as police officers and carrying guns assaulted a suburban house on Hyland Drive in DeKalb County, prosecutors said.

He and his fellow robbers used a vehicle tracking device on the victim’s cars to find the location of the house. The crew thought that the residents were marijuana suppliers.

The robbers wore fake police badges and vests with the word “Police” printed on them. They also carried handcuffs and firearms.

As they pulled into the victim’s driveway, he came out of the house. The robbers yelled, “DeKalb County Police get down, cuff him!”

Their goal was to force the victim take them to a “stash” house where they believed additional drugs were stored.

While the robbers were in the middle of trying to kidnap the victim, a friend of the victim arrived and the robbers traded gunfire with him on the lawn. The robbers then beat and kidnapped the victim.

The victim took the crew to his girlfriend’s home, under the pretense that it was the “stash” house that the robbers sought to find. The victim’s girlfriend fled the home through the back door and called police, who came and rescued the victim.

Mr. Seymore was sentenced to 13 years, 10 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release after pleading guilty Thursday.

In a hunting situation I agree, when someone is breaking down your door you are dead wrong. You can sit there and hope the criminal gives you 3 seconds to identify him but chances are he would shoot you at the 1st glimpse of you holding a gun, you think he would hesitate? And then what happens, you are dead and the now murdering criminal is on the run, that puts the rest of us at danger. You can do what you want but if someone is kicking in my door they are done.

Just one of a dozen scenarios:
Henry's neighbor arrives home late one night and sees flames coming from Henry's attic...
He runs to the door yelling and pounding on the door to alert Henry and his family...
The next thing Henry's neighbor hears is a loud explosion and his chest being ripped open by
a dozen AR15 rounds to the chest.
The Gazette reports the next day...
Henry accidentally shoots his neighbor.  It was no accident... it was on purpose.

Just one of a dozen scenarios:

The police, at 3am, find a member of Henry's family on the street unconscious from unknown causes.
The police see in the victim's wallet that he had collapsed in front of his own house...
The cop runs to the door pounding on the door to wake the residence for assistance...
Loudly identifying himself as a police officer, the cop tries the doorknob and it's unlocked...
as the officer opens the door...
The next thing the cop hears is a loud explosion and his chest being ripped open by
a dozen AR15 rounds to the chest.
The Gazette reports the next day...
Henry accidentally shoots a cop trying to rescue his family member.
It was no accident... it was on purpose.

A teenage kid on a joy ride wrecks his parents car and others in the car are seriously injured.
He runs to the nearest house, which happens to be Henry's home.
In a panic, he pounds on the door yelling for help...  he pounds so hard that it breaks a small pane
of glass in the door...
The next thing the teenager hears is a loud explosion and his chest being ripped open by
a dozen AR15 rounds to the chest.
The Gazette reports the next day...
Henry accidentally shoots a teen who was looking for assistance.
It was no accident... it was on purpose.

How many more scenarios do you need... a dozen? a hundred?

If you don't identify your target before firing, you are wrong.
The whole GunHugger mentality is geared to 'shoot someone', and they eventually will.

Those home invasion incidents do not fit Box's agenda so they must be false.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Robbers dressed as police broke in to a home Thursday in the 5300 block of S. Country Club Road, but did not take anything or hurt anyone, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

This must be one of those "conspiracy theories".  Everybody knows the mundane can't put on the costume without government consent.  It is illegal to put on the costume, so this could never have happened.

So in the event you are sitting at home with your family and somebody is violently pounding on your door trying to break it down while yelling police.  Just let them in and ask them for their credentials before making any rash decisions to protect yourself and your family with a gun.  Because as we've all be told, the lives of police are of the highest value in our society.  Second only to the politician.

You are 100 times more likely to be a victim of a crime in Schenectady, than
any of your Constitution trampling  dream list scenarios.

Police say a Pennsylvania business owner fatally shot an intruder after the man attacked the business owner's wife with a club.

Sylvia and Alfred Armen were working in the music store they own, CBS Pittsburgh/KDKA reports, when the suspect came in and looked at some of the merchandise.  He reportedly left for a few minutes, then came back with a wooden club.

Without delay, he allegedly struck Sylvia in the head, before "Mr. Armen came to her rescue," Bethel Park Police Chief John Mackey said.

The Armens are both in their seventies.

Thank goodness he had a gun !!!!!!!!!!

JoeBox and Box want that old man to get life in jail for assaulting a demoCRAP voter

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

YUP!
This guy in his 70's shot the intruder with a handgun.  NO assault weapon necessary!
